I'm a victim of racism in India: Mizoram CM

SINGAPORE: At a time when racial attacks against Indian students in Australia have attracted comments from the top leadership in both countries, Mizoram chief minister Pu Lalthanhawla on Thursday said he too was a victim of racism - but in India.

Speaking at a conference on water at the Singapore International Water Week, the chief minister said: "In India, people ask me if I am an Indian."

"When I go south, people ask me such questions. They ask me if I am from Nepal or elsewhere. They forget that the northeast is part of India. I have told many that see, I am an Indian like you," Lalthanhawla said.

"I am a victim of racism," he said. Indians consist of three races - "Dravidians, Aryans and we in the northeast," Lalthanhawla said.

Though many northeastern students complain of such discrimination in places like New Delhi, a state chief minister speaking in an international podium about an issue unrelated to the subject concerned was not liked by other Indian delegates present.

"This is unfair. We Indians are always divided and this is visible in a water event too. Many Australians must be feeling happy here," said an Indian delegate requesting anonymity.

That's because the NE people are (as BRF states) "ch1nkies". He's only an Indian citizen recognized by GOI but not by Indians themselves. That is the racism foreigners from around the globe face in India.:china: He won't face the same in China. :toast_sign:

This is media mess. Why don't TOI interview some of the Goras shopping in delhi. Most of them will complain that Indians are racist because we look at them as if we have seen as an alien. China is no less, when I was walking with my african friend in hangzhou train station, people looked at him and as if we just got dropped from space. I wont call it racisim but it is inquisitiveness. But calling an Indian person with stupid things like "chinki" etc is uncivilized. This happens when we haven't learnt/travelled about or within our own country. It is very important to know history, specially of our own country in every bits and pieces possible.

Still in the age of computers, not many people know the history and people of North East. They are brave patriotic people and they always remember the teachings of Vedas, "Never forget/betray your men, your mother and your land". This is time to know about the people who has always defended their land and successfully retaliated foreign inveders and preserved their culture. Be it the Mughals, the the british, the japanese etc. The Mughals were pathetically defeted not one or two but 19 times. So were the Japanese. The British could not win but were invited to rule because of repeated Burmese invasion.
If Mizoram CM's speech makes us know about our own people , better be it, after all we are all indians with big thinking and big heart and no attempt by any force can ever seperate us.

I will never understand the indian defination of race.

So what race is he and how is he different from other indians?:

Atal Bihari Vajpayee
13th & 16th Prime Minister of India

I wouldn't worry about it if I was you, he's a proud son of the motherland and that's all that matters.

What race are you by the way? because I'd like to understand your definition of a race.

This is definitely a tricky question :) . Lets wait for the answer .

Ha ha ha, they aren't Vedas followers if you are insinuating they are Hindu/Indian-origin. You can't change the fact that they are southern Chinese minority tribes. They have their cousins and family in China. And it is THEY who want to separate/be free. They are not happy there, hence the uprising in the "7 sisters".

Also, most Blacks are treated as Super-stars in China due to popularity of basketball and China's universal outreach projects in Africa. In some cities there are suspicion because many African-origin are heavily involved in illegal activities (like Narcotics, human trafficking). Many have been caught and deport. Yes, you can easily witness it. They are pushy when trying to get me to buy drugs. Not singling anyone out, as folks selling drugs are common around the world, just visit London or New York or Goa etc.

The British East India Company (BEIC) caused a lot of pain and setback during their Opium pushing days (they still do it, nowadays in form of Ecstacy, Heroine, and Cocaine). So it's understandable for this strong anti-narcotics stance.

Go to school again please and revise indian history before passing illiterate and baseless comments. Good luck.

North Eastern "7 sisters" people are not Indians, they with their lands belong to Chinese minority group.

The NE region you are refering is India/BD part, the NE region I'm refering to is China part. China has NO interest in claiming Indian part. I guess that's where you need to "un-school" your RSS Nationalistic schooling you received. Those RSS Fanatics think China was to "steal" Indian land. NO, we only want OURS back, you can keep yours!

India changed the name of the land to make it sound more "Hindu"....

Honestly, almost half your people are against Ahkand Bharat. Naxalites is a grass roots movement, NOT foreign. India is a farce of a "democracy". If it was, then a fifth Muslim and two-fifths Naxalites would be represented in the government, but it's not. You think these facts are unknown to the rest of the world. The only reason USA doesn't bring this issue up is because they want "common grounds" with India so it can be used as a Tool against their only viable competition, China.

How can India be a democracy when people are being murdered during elections, votes are openly bought, vote fraud, and Minorities/Naxals are not fairly represented??? :bunny: The world knows better, we just don't say it. :woot:

Yeah, do us all a favor then and hold your silence. We're pretty happy with our democratic system by the way.

You mean "democractic" as in OPENLY WAVING STACKS OF CASH IN PUBLIC during congress meetings and the like (yes there are plentiful videos out there!). Don't claim 'democractic' when it's a total farce.
