Iftikhar Chaudhry sends Rs20 billion libel notice to Imran Khan
By Dawn.com
ISLAMABAD: Lawyers of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday sent a defamation notice worth 20 billion rupees to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

Chaudhry’s lawyers while speaking to media representatives outside the Supreme Court said Imran Khan was attempting to disparage and malign the superior judiciary.

They added legal proceedings would be initiated against the PTI chief if he failed to apologise for the allegations he had leveled earlier against the former chief justice.

Earlier, sources said Chaudhry's legal team will initiate proceedings against the PTI supremo if the latter fails to prove the allegations he has been levelling against the former chief justice.

The PTI chief had accused the former chief justice of poll rigging in the 2013 general election.

Moreover, Chaudhry's son, Arsalan Iftikhar, had recently alleged that Imran did not fulfill the criterion set for being an elected representative of the people, as described in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

Arsalan had said that there were doubts on Imran’s credibility to be elected as a parliamentarian.

Also recently, two lawyers had filed petitions against the PTI chief citing that the statements made by him maligned the former chief justice and other judges of the Supreme Court.

While I don't support IK on this, instead of criticizing people in public like this, IK should proceed with legal cases against them first, if courts won't provide Justice only then he should go to public.

Having said that, IK have said a lot of times already that they have proofs against Iftikhar Ch's involvement in election rigging. Now that defamation case has been filed against IK, its good. It will force IK to either quit this blame game or present proofs in court and expose this don Iftikhar Ch.

Time for IK to prove what he claim, isn't they summon him also on contempt of court charges?

Iftikhar Ch was chief justice at that time, now he is not. So things are different now.

Chaudhry’s lawyers while speaking to media representatives outside the Supreme Court said Imran Khan was attempting to disparage and malign the superior judiciary.

IK criticized lower Judiciary (the ROs), never maligned the superior judiciary. Yes he criticize former chief justice but he no more belongs to superior judiciary now.

Article 6 applies on EX-CJ for releasing most wanted dangerous International terrorists arrested by Pakistan Army released by EX-CJ on pretext of hate against Army.

PTI can send 20 billion plus liable notice to EX-CJ and his son for defamation.

Wait paid patwari league on this Thread how about notices send to Faisal Raza, Musharraf, zardari and each one who attack SC in the past.

EX-CJ and his lil son gets diarrhea when they hear Malik Riaz the bold man, riaz is not stupid he had already given evidences to ppp/PTI and some other political figures.
