Actually, all started in Korean War. But today, in every fields (culture, defence, trade...etc.) and in every situations, crisises, they always backed us up just as we back them up. i meant that a group of countries lving like brothers....i.e if suppose any other country messes with one of the alliance countries..like jst suppose a european country messes with india.... it will hav to face retaliatin from pakistan china russia....how aout this?....no 1 wil mess with any alliance country .......

I think during the falkands war NATO did not help the UK so it does not necessary mean all allaince countries have to go to war over a single issue especially if the home nation is not under attack.
I do agree though if a western carrier fleet turned up to attack india then under the alliance all counties would have to defend india.
