OK, I have simple question. If Prime minister(why this is even called Minister, why not supreme leader etc) is the the biggest leader then what is president of country? Actually want to know why this confusion in Pakistan, India, Australia etc? American system seem quite straight forward. They have president as leader.
This question pop in my mind when some where I read that Prime ministers are ministers of "The Queen". If this is true , then what was that 1947? Why we call it independence if "the Queen " is still our leader? Confused.

.
Because we have parliamentary system wherein a Prez is a symbolic post while US has presidential form of government.

Constitutionally Prime minister is the Chief executive of the country while President is the head of the state.
President is the supreme commander of the armed forces (though it sounds like a joke) and the final authority in all matters of the state, though he acts on the advice of the Prime Minister.

But in actual , even the president gets his appointment on Prime ministers recommendations. :).
Can the President dismiss prime minister?(like, as a boss)

I have similar confusions for Governor and Chief Minister also.

In parliamentary system, President is a figure head aka rubber stamp.

Correct, it is more to have balance of power in system. But if the ruling party has full majority in parliament then president is nearly as good as useless.

Governor is just a federal representative who oversees the state legislative and ensure every thing works as per constitution. Sort of a neutral umpire but as you know in politics ......

President can dismiss PM on constitutional grounds and if PM refuses he can take it o supreme court. But if the PM has the majority in the parliament then he can get the president impeached.

.
In a parliamentary democracy, the president is supposed to be an impartial neutral individual who is above party politics. In essence its a ceremonial role and it is the president who should for example meet and greet foreign dignitaries and represent the country abroad, quite simply because he is not representing a political faction within that country, but the nation as a whole.

The names are merely conventions, we still call them ministers although we dont have king or queen as head of state(in India and many commonweath nations, but uk, canada, australia and newzealand still have queen as head of state).
We simply have replaced queen with a president, whose job is to invite the leader of largest group of MPs(in reality whichever coalition won most seats) to form govt. There are other functions too but this one is most important.
President has to abide by constitution too. If president dismisses the PM without getting backing of MPs, then MPs will simply get the same guy PM again, and impeach the president. In India, if president thinks that a ruling combine has lost mandate to govern, he/she will ask them to prove majority in the parliament.

In India governor acts like president for the specific state. He is supposed to act impartially just like president(invite ruling combine to form govt in state). In reality he acts as agent of central govt in the state, as its central govt that appoints governor.

I think Zardari made sure that there is no power struggle between PM and president in pakistan, before that the pakistani system was quite unstable, with dual power center.

Our constitution makes our President, a dummy actually. US has presidential form of government, we had it too but under the constitution of 1962.

the dictator can only take power if pakistani public wants. I doubt any general will try to become a dictator after Musharaf. Its much better to drive from backseat, get all credit and no blame.
