If Kashmir blows up, all bets off: US

Hillary makes a big mistake. Understandable pro India but if you think that a nation that has been in trouble with India should focus to Afghanistan while it is being trashed daily by India is a bit simplisitic. However, we are used to simplistic views of the US. If you want Pakistan to fight a war then provide finance and equipment, don't start teaching them lessons while you have been using them for decades. Even the poorest farmer knows that US is not worth to be trusted.

Here it comes once again, hand out bowl!!! Then when the funds and equipments comes all pushed to Indian defense sector, like in the past.

Yes I am sure air assault capability has a very good application in a conventional Pak-India conflagaration..

So what the hell are you suggesting? You demand Pakistan to keep silent on the Indian issue. At the same time you want Pakistan to fight the WoT and defeat the Taliban. Whenever Pakistan legitimately requests for funding and weaponry you resort to your old smear tactics. What the hell is that you expect? Free service? Get that out of your skull. You aren't going to get any free service. You either pay upfront and provide the necessary equipment or just zip it. No free lunch this time around. Get used to it.

Yes, that is excatly what I am saying, I want Pakistan to fight and defeat the talibans, very simple. Infact, if there is any dedication shown by the pakistan establishment, US gladly will give you the funds and equipments needed. But, there is no dening that in past those funds and equipment where transfered to the Indian defense account, and USA is no fool to fall for same trape again. What is that line Bush always falters on, "fool me onces, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me."

Regards.

It would be more in the lines of "let the pakistanis show what they are willing to do and then ask for equipment if it feels that it is falling short". After all nobody will dish out anything, if one doesnt show what is one capable off..I am pretty sure, that tomorrow if pakistani's decide to take on those talibani shitholes and in course of action if they feel that they need some JDAM's to shove talibani's into the cases....US or any country will defnietly supply it. ...No country in the world wants taliban's to show up in your country..but if its all talk and no walk then it doesnt lead any credibility to your demands....

All talk no walk? Our country is in freaking flames and we urgently require the equipment to fight these once US sponsored terrorists. No equipment and proper funding means no resolve to effectively eliminate the Taliban. It's as simple as that. No rocket science involved. You can scream and shout all you want, but that isn't going to change one thing.

Not going to happen unless the goodies are provided. Very simple. Bush is history so whatever he said is simply irrelevant. The situation has changed rapidly since Bush has gone.

You have to be kidding me....PA who can take on IA at any given time and give a pretty good fight ...has no proper equipment to fight off rag tag bunch of shitholes ??? comon ...that argument falls flat.

Your country is in flames ..agreed. But what is your insititution doing about it ? zilch. If world can see that pakistan is trying their best to fend off these rascals then they will provide every imaginable equipment you ask for , whether these will be used against India is a different matter.

So once esteemed PA is so miserable right now that it needs to beg for weapons from US extinguish its "freaking flame". I think all this we require equipments to fight is BS. What you really require to fight off Talibans is a change in the mindset of the lower ranks of PA who identify with the Talibans more than they do with thier elitist leaders.

Esteemed PA? What the hell you going on about? You're either confused or just plain foolhardy. It has nothing to do with begging whatsoever. We are not going to fight like anybody's mercenary army. The US has had a hand in creating the Taliban/AQ menace. The Americans are mostly responsible for this mess. They will have to share in the responsibility and burden. We aren't going to fight anyone until we get the proper weaponry, pay checks plus free trade agreements etc. We need the whole package. Simple. We are going to set the terms this time around. We don't care about the world opinion neither sanctions. We survived once and even thrived during previous sanctions. We are going to have it our way. You just watch.

None of the specific comments about Pakistan and Kashmir as reported by Tribune India and attributed to Clinton are in the first one. The second one is just another reporter's version.

I didn't mean to imply that she would have it in her transcript. Just was saying that it was an open hearing. As I understand it, you go in front of the committee, make a speech and then they ask questions. I would think this comment was an answer to something asked. I was thinking that the timing of the Kashmir comments was related to the hearing and not to any foreign policy change.

Anyway your question lead me to realize a couple of things. First, this was made to "house appropriations committee", not to the international relations committee. Also the only person reporting on this was "IANS" /"Indo Asian News service" . No wonder no one else heard of this.

Her speech did mention funding for Pakistan and the recent $5bn collected at the donors conference as an achievement. She again (today) requested all donors to stand by their commitment. $5bn can pay for a lot of people's salaries .

Not nearly good enough. We have had such peanuts before. We need sustained and guaranteed support. We haven't forgotten how these Americans stung us after the Cold War. They left everyone high and dry. They will do so again. We need a little more than peanuts this time around. We need something like a Marshall Plan. Nothing less will do. We have to prove nothing. We helped the Americans achieve victory during the Cold War. We were the victims of US run tactics. As a consequence everyone suffered. If there is anyone that is obliged to show goodwill gesture and restore confidence it are the Americans.

I don't think Hillary to ask PA to fight in Afghanistan. She is asking PA to fight in Pakistan against its own enemies. Refusing to do so and asking for money sounds like saying "I have an infectious plague and I refuse to take medicine, my enemies and neighbours better be careful".

I am assuming that you really meant your "country in flames" comment. If not, I'll apologize in advance for using the plague analogy. I do not mean to insult your country.
