intercept medium- to long-range rockets and slower-flying cruise missiles, such as those possessed by Hezbollah, fired at ranges from 40 km to 300 km.

Now, our enemy is not gonna fire rockets at us during war, that will be ballistic missiles. Seriously, I have lost faith in IAF and some section of army(mechanized forces).

IAF is Wise here to Go For Davids Sling which is a Best possible solution for Intercepting Short range Missiles and Cruise Missiles, While Wait for AAD to get Developed.... If IAF had to really Go Urgent here, It would have Bought Arrow Istead of Davids Sling ....

I will explain. The AWACS India has got from Israel, The Phalcons are the state of the art technology.
India is a joint producer of PAK FA
India has Brahmos that is a JV with Russia
India is in a JV for Barak 8 missiles
India will purchase 126 top notch aircrafts from Europe with complete ToT and an offer to join Euro fighter program if selected by India
India has purchased C17 globe master from US.
India is in a JV with French company for a JV in producing the engine core
India has access to AESA radars from France, Russia, Israel and US

India can buy any technology it wants including F16 block 60 if it wanted to. And someone here says India is jealous that it can't get its hands on technology.

Though India does have MKIs, Mig-29, Miarges, but the bulk of the fleet is aging. Regrading the 126 top notch aircrafts, by that time the PAF will have 300-350 JF-17s and 48-84 J-10s/J11s.

I did not exaggerate Indian power. I spoke about the access to technology. Do you understand the subtle difference ?
OK we have an ageing fleet but we ensured JF-17s do not get French electronics. Good luck with your JF-17s as we need some target practice. Nothing to do with our aircrafts but all to do with MKIs radars and AESA radars on the 126 planes.

There are nearly 300 Su30Mki, the idea is that by the time they finish, you could even send in crop dusters to drop bombs with no enemy aircraft to deal with.

You want your nations security to be compromised for the sake of Indigenous developments?? And Inturn Blame the forces when something happens to the nation meanwhile... Defense Procurement is Not as easy as you think it to be, Davids Sling and Iron Doom is perhaps the only Interceptor in the world Which Draws the path of The incoming missile and Intercept it.. Does India have any Developments such as Davids Sling, PAD perhaps... And Akash, Its Simply not enough and does not provide any Credible deterrence, It might be a Good Missile, But a Nation resting its hopes in just one is Idiotic....

Defending against short range missiles are still our priority. The first layer of engagement will start with short range missiles IMO.

What is wrong with David's sling and Iron Dome?? Our Defence experts are evaluating it?? if found suitable, i see no reason not to buy it.

I also have a doubt, does david's sling and Iron Dome have american components in them?

Iron Dome is solely Israeli, David's sling needs US permision to export.

Also David's Sling can intercept Babur and Raad cruise missiles.

Rafale has confirmed it that both of these were offered to India and are still offering, India is evaluating its chances on it...
