ICG considers possibility of military coup in Bangladesh increasingly high

LOL civil war??? Civil war has been going on in our country in the past two decades in the form of AL vs BNP a.k.a Dalal vs Razakar

Any real possibilty of civil war is really damn low. Nobody want to fight in our country, unless national security is at risk

That is interesting .... If no one wants to fight then what has been happening in Ashulia for the last 4 days. People will fight for a lot less than national security. The only thing preventing them is an opportunity and a cause.

It seems Munshi really want a Civil war in Bangladesh. ;)

With a civil war we want to get rid of two extreme groups. One is diehard AL supporters and the other is diehard razakar supporters of Jamaat. Let these extremists eliminate each other so that the moderate forces take the control of the country. The moderate group includes BNP supporters, intellectuals, academicians, educated professionals, govt servants, members of armed forces, police and ansars.

We want intellectuals like Dr. Yunus, Dr. Debopryo Bhattacharia and Sir Abid khan to come to the forefront and lead the country.

Fighting using sticks and stones doesnt count as war. Its called a riot -.-

It counts as a fight with one side using sticks and stones and the other batons, tear gas and rubber bullets. You suggested people don't fight I am saying that they will do so for a lot less than national security. The nature of the fight is beside the point.

No not really. I was just pointing out the circumstances in which a civil war may occur .....

Read my quote, my subject was about civil war, i did not mean fight as in fight literally.

Civil war is just a big fight with guns ..........

With big casualities, with big losses, with big damages, with big consequences. All these big things sets a civil wars apart from a riot. So i am saying it again the possibility of civil war is very low in bangladesh as bangladeshis do not want to fight(a civil war) unless its a matter of national security.

Just interested but how many Bangladeshis understand the concept of national security? Was not Pilkhana a threat to our national security but it did not cause much of a stir .........

Pilkhana was a threat to us, but the people did not need to take up arms as the army took care of the episode.

Army took care of it after 3 days, while they should have stormed the compound in 30 minutes, saving almost all officers lives that were lost. Sure it would kill a whole bunch of mutineers, which they deserved anyways.

Both Hasnia and Moeen should be hanged for criminal dereliction of duty and incompetence as commander of the nation and the armed forces. I would say both of them were either involved in the plot or listened to Delhi's orders to not go in, either way they are both incompetent traitors to the nation and deserve to be hanged.

There is an old saying "becareful what you wish for". Civil war would lead to nothing good and would set the economy back about 20 years. The backbone of Bangladesh's economy would be ruined. The best thing to hope for now is a smooth transition from AL to caretaker to BNP or less autocratic party.

Civil war isn't a weather man game that with forecasting a storm raising signal 10 it'll come. It doesn't depend on individual's wish. Tunisia had its from the incident of a young chap named Mohamed Bouazizi, a university degree holder who used to be a street vendor of vegetable set fire on his own body and died. Last 22 years the honest (!) politicians (wak thuuuu) of BD have already set the economy 50 years back and there's no backbone in existence both politically and economically. It's better being on the street once rather than every 5-year term where emotional people are being exploited for party interest, not for homeland.

Smooth transition of power from bal to bnp means the same thing, tossing a coin and legal patronization of thugs association by people. So, you are sure under the umbrella of less autocratic party bnp you are not going to stage the same drama on street (and here in PDF ;)) again after 3rd year they ascend and continue that next 2 years  ?

I beg to differ a bit bro. The Armed forces could have done that in 15 minutes. In that case, there would have been a great difference between ourselves in Bangladesh. The fault is of some people who ignored intelligence and just didn't believe -this will happen.

It is time for the Bangladeshi Patriots to get rid of this ODIOUS PM form AL.
Imagine, a General riding a horse in Dhaka city, all the channels are showing it Live, two women(... ....- got it who they are) is strapped in with ropes and tied to the horse, --- you know what no one would give a **** about it, oh yeah probably I am gonna post it on FB and see how many like it gets. Patriotism is a different thing mate.

[B Large-scale dismissals, forced retirements, deepening politicisation
Bangladesh: Back to the Future - International Crisis Group

Officers get dismissed if they are found to be connected with any opposing political party,no matter how distantly. For the same reason they are sometimes forced to retire like mentioned. But having links with the party in power results in a larger chance of promotion. This has caused divisions in the military, with sections supporting AL,BNP,Jamat respectively.People who try to stay neutral are mistreated as well.
And recently there have been abductions and killings of officers as well.Few have been reported.

And the countries in a very bad position economically and politically,so a Coup seems very realistic to me.
