The inaugural event, the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, was staged in South Africa from 11–24 September 2007. The tournament was won by India, who became the first World T20 Champions after defeating Pakistan by 5 runs in the final at Johannesburg. The second event, the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 took place in England from 5–21 June 2009. This tournament was won by the previous runners-up Pakistan who defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final at Lord's, London.[1] [2] The third tournament, the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 was held from 30 April–16 May 2010 and hosted by the West Indies. The winners were England who defeated Australia by 7 wickets in the final at Kensington Oval, Barbados. This was the first ever ICC tournament won by England.

Saeed Ajmal is in career best form and he will look to create a stir at the World Cup. He will also be benefited by the pitch as it is accustomed to spin bowling. Virender Sehwag will be a player aiming to prove a point at the T20 World Cup as he hasn’t been in the best of form and but he is in the format which will suit his play very well. This will be a huge test for Ajmal as India are quite strong on Sri Lankan soil and this could really break or make him for the tournament. Sehwag will be disappointed that he hasn’t been able to perform consistently for India in T20′s having averaged just over 22 in 15 innings with only 2 half centuries.

Pakistan have a great team of 15 that they have selected for the T20 World Cup. They have selected a side that has plenty of experience and then the youthful guys that will bring a vibrant look to the way Pakistan look. Pakistan are in with a really good shot at making a play for the trophy since they have shown some great form recently. Shahid Afridi will be key for Pakistan, he hasn’t had much cricket recently but Pakistan need him to lift because he is one of the most entertaining players in World Cricket.
