Yeah. Went to a Gujrati Indian restaurant here in Manchester and asked for Biryani.
What was served, we feed to our chicken in Pakistan

Lol, who in his right mind would order Biryani from a Gujarati restaurant. Dhokla is a different matter.

If you want to taste Biryani from India, you should go to a place that specialises in Hydrerabadi, Lucknawi or maybe Bengali cuisine.

think they have a version of biriyani of their own, some meaty rice thing.. Iranians hai, afterall, the progenitors of the dish itself.

but proper gujju dharmi cuisine is also ok, if a bit of an acquired taste.. the namkeens are good, dhoklas, theplas, all manner of crispy bar snack type. The full on food I find kinda gross, its oily, sweet and chilly at the same time, not much (or any?) onion or garlic either..
