IAF's Iron Fist will shock and awe

These IAF jets haven't done crap against the Maoist insurgents which have wrecked India's Eastern Provinces.
These IAF jets haven't done crap against the Bangladeshi immigrants who are pouring into India.
These IAF jets haven't done crap against the insurgencies in Kashmir.

Why would they?.... aerial bombardment on your own people amounts to a situation you see on Pakistan's NWFP (read drone attacks)....locals get pissed off and a low level rebellion turns into a full fledged civil war...NO NEED!!

The army and paramilitary forces are better suited for CI....I would rue the day my country starts bombing its own people..

PS: Though somehow I feel you might have posted this sarcastically...though with Pakistanis, one can never tell..

^^ Indian AF was successful in dislodging Pak army supported groups off of Kargil. So the credit (purely from military history pov) should be given where it is due.

Thats because we didn't deploy our Anti-Air System to shoot down these planes.

Pakistan needs to invest in heavy anti-air systems that will saturate the skies with missiles and make the Indian Fighters fall from the sky like they have Bird Flu. :D

That is not what Air Force jets are for. The Cops and the Army is tasked for that. When it gets bigger; then the Jets come out. Remember the jets pounding Kargil?
Is that what PAF jets have been able to do for instance?

So no need to get hyper about an air-display.
BTW, will the PAF jets be flying on aerial display; this 23rd March? looking to see the Erieyes in the skies.

Shock and Awe is the term used by Americans when they attacked Iraq especially in GW-2.

So if India is as strong as Americans,

AND Indian opponents are as weak as Iraqis,

AND Indians are geographically as far away from its opponents as Americans were from iraq

then the term "shock and awe" will hold.

But at this very point,

None of the three conditions are applicable to India when we compare it to the opponents.

Unless India is planning to go do shock and awe some place in Africa (say against Congo rebels),

then whoever is using this term of "shock and awe"

had obviously had too much daall, and as a result suffering from too much gas trouble and hence too much f@rting.

Considering the military implications, Indians cannot do shock and awe against puny Maldives let alone S Lanka, BDesh, Nepal or Pakistan and off course China is in a totally different league.

Believe you me, the max (fortunately for Indians) you guys will see is this "shock and awe" remaining within Indian territory.

peace

p.s. Military analysis and comparison is a serious business. It should not be taken lightly. Unless off course the OP had too much daal to eat last night.

I wouldnt be stuck on the "shock and awe" bit if I were you...
Indian media has a habit of exaggeration and plagirizing terms to fit into unrelated and unrequired situations...

Anti Air systems are deployed with a defensive posture within ones boundaries, populated and economic centres...NOT in enemy territory..LOL! Of course Pak didnt have Anti-Air in Kargil...

Besides, I believe the use of chinese made Anza's was quite prevalent during Kargil.

I think the IAF philosophy is not built around copying the Americans.Probably if you can be a little more discreet, that is,if we can be more focused than talking about gastrointestinal troubles, then we can actually have meaningful conversation, atleast for one time.

Why do you need jets then..buy some SAMs and disband the AF genius.

Actually we did.

When IAF was deployed in Kargil, for the first day or so, IAF fighters took it easy and got across LOC.

they were promptly shot down.

IAF quickly changed its strategy (and routing) and then remained strictly on the Indian side of LOC.

Off course the next thing Pakistanis could do was to deploy SAMs to defend Kargil, but that would have been a clear intrusion into Indian side.

So Pak army refrained and ended up getting 100s of its soldiers and assets killed.

War is a chess board, and Gen Mush didn't think it through all of the enemy moves.

Pak generals didn't believe that IAF will be deployed there.

And that miscalculation cost us dearly.

It was mainly Anzas in Kargil. The IA mopped up a number of them from the retaken bunkers.

About the first part; were'nt there only some scruffy rag-tag Mujaheddin in Kargil? ;)
How could they have had anti-air?

Planning a War requires "Brain-Power" my friend; not "Horse-Power"!
That is what Generals need to have and to employ. :azn:

Peace.

I thought you are Elite member, what kinda crap is this??? and mister JR. THink tanku.... your problem.... don't you guys feel shame when you are posting such non-sense....

well, good for india then. no doubt india is a big country and so has enough money than Pakistan to spend on its army. Pakistan on the other hand is managing its few resources in a better way.

You will notice that the IAF jet was shot down by a short range missile.Once that happened,IAF resorted to high altitude bombing, which required elaborate arrangements for Laser designators. The IAF jets were still crossing the border. In a bomb run, they would approach the target perpendicularly and after the bomb run ,th.ey would end up being in the Pakistani side. But they were flying way too high to be within the range of the Manpads.
But,by that time, the PAF was not flying CAP anymore. In any case, the Mig-29 were there playing the guardian angel.
