IAF wanted Surgical Air Strikes post 26/11, Congress govt denied it

Tough talking by then external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee, following the 26/11 attacks, rattled Pakistan so much that it pressed the panic button and called everyone from Chinese to the Americans saying that India has decided to go to war.

At one point, the then secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice also panicked temporarily after she could not get Mukherjee on line even after repeated attempts.

"The Pakistanis say the Indians have warned them that they've decided to go to war," a White House aide anxiously called Rice.

As a result of the wrong rumour coming out of Pakistan, the then US President George Bush asked her to travel to Islamabad and New Delhi to defuse the situation, Rice says in her latest book 'No High Honors' that is scheduled to hit the book stores next week.

"What?" Rice uttered after the White House aide told her about the message from Pakistan.

"That isn't what they're (India) telling me. In my many conversations with the Indians over the two days, they'd emphasised their desire to defuse the situation and their need for the Pakistanis to do something to show that they accepted responsibility for tracking down the terrorists," Rice wrote in her 766-page book.

In the end all that you highlighted in red did not meant squat because Indian government chose not to go on with whatever IAF was hoping for.

I am glad Indians did not try any misadventures cause the reaction would be a return strike on Indian based which will result in a full scale war between two nuclear armed states . as much as it might seems to our neighbours its not halwa to attack Pakistan and get away with it.

2008 air alert
After the 2008 Mumbai attacks, PAF was put on high alert. It deployed to all its wartime locations and started combat air patrols. The speed and intensity of the deployment and PAF's readiness took the Indian Army High Command by surprise and later reports suggest was the main factor in the Indian decision of not going for cross border raids inside Pakistan.[44][45] PAF was issued a Standing Order to launch an immediate counter-attack in case of an air attack from India, after a call from the Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee to the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari (the call later turned out to be a hoax).[44][45][46][47][48]
And today who would mess with PAF. We are so much better than 2008.

Yeah, Pakistani articles are Gospel's truth.
Actually all articles in all newspapers only have a slight element of truth. That is true even for western news reports. Often they are designed for public consumption

and in Pakistan we were happy for war as war with India would have made us one again. the strong TTP of that time was ready to fight along side us.

You know I was a comedian once, till I took a pun straight to the knee

Anyone else got a story to share?

Any flying objects if ever came from eastern side of Pakistan without permission will be blown out

It was clear from day one and it’s going to be the same in future

Doesn’t matter who Indians beg and who support them

Irony is that last IAF chief refused at point blank to Modi to be part of any SIR JE KAL drama, knowing fully the consequences his service had to face from Pakistani counterpart. Poor man was outcasted at the audacity and replace with bullsh|t dhona.

Then what stopped you? May be lack of courage?
It is easy to brag but very difficult to prove what u have pasted.

Is bharti ko sirf Pakistan Defence Forum mila tha, Apna garbage of india dump Karna ko.:disagree:

On Indian begging Americans told Pakistan to protest but not reply if India attack, Pakistani COAS then show Americans a video of Pakistani jets locking missile on Indian jets, "next time we'll bring them down", was the only answer of COAS.
