What's new

IAF plan for upgraded Jaguars fails to take off

May be not Because M2K are far better which IAF pilots like to fly.
why m2k when we are getting better Rafale why not we Buy More Rafale rather than M2k It will be more profitable for Us

.
I think UAE, Egypt and may be Qatar will be selling their M2K which Taiwan might be looking to buy.
first of all why M2k Now we already Planned to fill are gaps with 294 LCA's No need for another Aircraft in the same role Are seen by IAF

M2K makes sense by the fact that we have experience in operating them, but that doesn't mean we should add airframes that already are at the end of their life. Rafale on the other side is a complete new fighter and IAF will need to gain experience, develop tactics and logistics for it first, which takes some time. The only M2Ks that could be available in a short time and with enough life left to be useful for IAF would be the 12 x from Qatar, but that's it and mainly depend on how fast they decide for a new fighter and at what price they want to sell them (last time we asked the price was too high).

.
Also French and Greeks ones are available to them along with South Americas ones for Spares.

No, only older Mirage strike versions are available from France, which will be phased out, so no use for India. Greek won't sell their most capable fighters for sure and so on, the only M2K customer that "want" to sell now is Qatar.

No real sense mate yeah M2k is good plane But we invested too much on the LCA 294 is a huge number Plus we are getting More Advance Technology than M2k Plus More Economical Benefit

Qatar, UAE and Egypt will sell it only to Greece or Taiwan but not to IAF.
mate you are right but we have better option As are Own Indigenous LCA .We invested huge Money on it No Budget fore any other fighter in the same role Required

First of all, we don't get 294 LCAs, that's just wrong reporting. If we could get that many in a reasonable time, we wouldn't go for MMRCA. So far only 120 x LCAs are on order for IAF and anything beyond will dependend on the threat perception beyond 2020, where more advanced fighters might be needed.
For the short term that can be easily inducted however, there are only a few solutions:

- additional MKIs from Russia and not HAL, which nobody wants (not MoD and not HAL)
- additional M2Ks which hardly are available (but I do hope for the Qatari once)
- additional Mig 29s, which are in most cases in a bad shape and badly maintained, while no new once will be added for sure

Additional LCA MK1s or Rafales directly from France would be possible too, but as explained would require more time to be inducted and till IAF can make full use of their capabilities, compared to fighters that are in the fleet for years.

Maybe 294 is too many but atleast we need 200 atleast will raise confidence in Hal as they a have to manufacture more complicated Technology and n their future project's like AMCA in the Future.
