A 23-year-old Indian Air Force (IAF) airman allegedly shot himself at the Air Force station in Tambaram on the outskirts of Chennai, defence and police officials said on Thursday.

The airman committed suicide on Wednesday night by using a firearm, they said.

“It is a case of suicide. An inquiry is on,” a defence official said but declined to divulge any further information.

Police said the body of the airman has been shifted to a government hospital.

Airmen are deployed on ground-based jobs in the IAF.

This is disturbing. A day ago,their army man commit suicide,now iaf.

I am amazed that PAF is not blamed for this incident. Previously when two Indian soldiers were found dead at LOC, it was just natural to blame Pakistani Army Soldiers for that.

May the departed rest in peace somewhere.
