IAF MiG-27 crashes- pilot safe

Pakistan has old jets too. You never hear of them crashing.

The planes that crash are pretty much always MIG 27s and MIG 21s.

This is probably why

russia stopped mig 27 production in 1983, the collapse of USSR led to IAF buying spares from third parties

all the mig 27 built by HAl is knocked down kits supplied by USSR no TOT and no engine tech so we are taking chances till we get a new platform some time leading to crashes

India had the MIG 21s sense the 60s!

Do Pakistan still operate the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter anymore?

Anyhow, its very suprising india doesn't keep these jets in top shape with spare parts considering it has the money to do so as this is "an ongoing problem," for decades. Didn't Russia give india a license to produce these MIGs in india?

This doesn't add up, except that the "worn out" jets is used for a cover for IAF's shotty pilots.

Know it does. Know 2.5% of the GDP ends up to be like 35-40 billion dollars for India. Mig 21 bison i dont hear crashing. And yes India is upgrading like the MIG 29s and the Mirages, but not the MIG 21, because its going to be replaced.

Call Indian pilots shotty, if they crash Mig 29s, Mirages, Su 30 MKIs,transport A/Cs, etc, etc left and right. Other wise, save it.

The production of the MiG-21s in India under license by Hindustan Aeronautics in Nasik started with the MiG-21FL in 1966 in four phases starting with the assembly of CKD kits, moving on to subassemblies, parts, and finally advancing to production from scratch. 205 MiG-21FLs, designated Type 77 and nicknamed Trishul ("Trident), were built in India between 1966 and 1972; the first one built entirely from Indian-made components was delivered to the IAF on 19 October 1970, with the first Indian-made R11F2S-300 powerplant leaving the assembly line on 2 January 1969. In 1971 HAL production was switched to an improved version of the MiG-21M (izdeliye 96), which was designated Type 88 by HAL; as this variant was produced exclusively in India, no izdeliye designation is applicable. The first Type 88 MiG-21M was delivered to the IAF on 14 February 1973 and the last on 12 November 1981, with a total of 158 built. The last variant to be produced by HAL was the MiG-21bis. 75 were built in 1977 from CKD kits, and a further 220 were built from scratch by 1984. Despite a series of crashes during the 1990s, the Indian Air Force has decided to upgrade about 125 of the MiG-21bis in its inventory to the MiG-21 "Bison" standard. These will serve the Indian Air Force until 2018.

The MiG-27s were also hardly flown in 2005-2006 after it was found that their R-29 engines were causing a large number of accidents. Ageing MiG variants, which constitute the bulk of India's combat fleet, shoddy maintenance and inadequate training to rookie pilots, have all contributed to the high crash rate in IAF.

Another MiG-27 crashes, pilot ejects safely - The Times of India

Yes I will call them shotty pilots.

Have a good day.

They are rookies, then why did you bring the whole IAF into this?

And this was part of it too.

Lets analyze the whole sentence and its implications.

inadequate training to rookie pilots

Inadequate training to rookie pilots will eventually transpose to shotty pilots.

Lets face it, IAF pilots are bad. They performed badly at U.S.'s 2008 Red Flag and back home in india they contine their bad flying.

Ok, lets hope India and Pakistan go to war again and test this theory. Instead of chest bumping on the internet and say Indian pilots are bad. The whole IAF isn't rookie pilots who flies age old MIG 27s and MIG 21s from the 60s-80s. If Pakistan are operating F-104 Starfighter from the same age as the MIGs with rookie pilots, I think the same result will occur.

IAF battled F-15 pilots who regularly fought against F-22s. Im not surprised India lost.

i was talking about the spare pars and production of mig 27 i had never commented on mig 21

I know.

the main reason for the crash is lack of orginal spare parts and new engines that is the reason

I know.

as for your information our pilots are still flying old mirages from 60s.....
and im guessing u already know that dassault dont make any more spares for mirage 3/5....

and why are you surprised that IAF lost against f-15s???
i mean f-15s are pretty old and your sukhois are fairly new.......oh wait a minute so ur saying that IAF has roookies in their pocket..?
