Propoganda by who exactly? Government? Medias? Defence contractors? ..

  • If its Government they dont need an excuse like this as they are already under critisism for slow programs.. there are plenty to site..
  • The article is written by a well known defense journalist called Shiv aroor who runs the blog LiveFist and is working for Headlines today. There is no monetary benefit for the medias .
  • So that leavs us with defence contractors... well if its true.. why bother???

I am dying to hear from the ones who has cried propoganda of their views on this article.

I think MRCA will help but India should focus on the following

1. India should invest heavily in force multipliers and AWACS. Simultaneous and simulated offensive defence doctrines with an emphasis on retaining air superiority in Indian skies should be put in place.

2. India has recently shown interest in acquiring SAMS . India should protect its strategic assets in J&K especially and border areas generally. Akash and Brahmos should be adopted for defence and offence respectively and innovatively employed to surprise the enemy. After all surprise is a big weapon.

3. India should buy atleast a dozen IL 76 and get DRDO to build indegeneous mid air refueller technology and start a new thread and get NAL to work on such projects with home grown aircrafts for the longer term.

4. India should buy predator drones from Israel for the short term and invest heavily in unmanned vehicles as they will be the technology of the future.

5. Tejas Mark II should be developed to replace Mig 21s and should be inducted in large numbers. Tejas should be used in combination with superior and well proven aircrafts to gain advantage in numbers and impose authority with SU-30 MKI and Mig 29s.

6. LCH should be used for battle area superiority and with Arjuns and T90s. The radars India is developing for years should be deployed in huge numbers along the border for pin point accurate of enemy movement.

Air superiority is India's need. It cannot be compromised.

Almost complete requirement.. However MRCA will come at the same time as LCA-II ( well almost )..

In addition to these we must concentrate on getting ASTRA and ASTRA-II ready ASAP and invest in RAMJET version of ASTRA..JV with israel fro next gen. missile for WVR combat will be very good..

Air-superiority is important but just to keep things interesting a couple of squadrons of SU-34 will be very good to have..

Well i don't think Pakistan's progress on level where should be, there are air defense, stealth fighter questions still unsolved & we have no solution against IND AF preparations.

.
Pakistan has always kept a good balance/parity with India as far as Army and AF is concerned (the article explains all). There no harm if Pakistan is spending fortune to gain parity than being under depressing Indian hegemony. Especially when Indian forces are under pacifist civilian control.
It would be asking for moon if Shiv Aroor expects PAF to be same as of 1970's force when today the world has reached the information age.
I have found Shiv Aroor over alarming at times.

.
we need to be patient .
1. with the mmrca winner soon announced , it will be only matter of time the technological edge is regained.
2. tejas protgram is now moving full speed ahead, that should revive our numbers.
3. PAKFA & AMCA to look orward to.

chill people......

ya brother, in 80s we were in financial crunch, so we got somewhat late,
but still Pak has no answer to IAF su 30.

. . .
BTW we are also buying $1.3 Bill. worth of portable anti-aircraft weapons in addition to this..

LIG Nex1 submits bid to sell portable missiles to India

IAF wants new medium range sir defence missile.

The FU should have following components: (a) Multifunctional Radar (MFR). This radar should be active phased array radar for 3D target information to the centralised control unit. It should be able to feed the information to the centralised network for overall command and control. This radar should be able to provide Early Warning (EW) upto a long range. It should have capability of Track While Scan (TWS). (b) Fire Control Unit. This unit would be fed with the information from the MFR for exercising command and control over the complete firing system. It should be able to prioritise the threats and allocate resource as per the threat evaluation. (c) Launchers. System should have number of launchers with the minimum numbers to be specified. These launchers should be highly mobile and should have number of missiles. Launch capability should be specified. (d) Missiles. The missiles should have an active seeker. (e) System Simulator. For training of operators one simulator should be an integral part of FU. It should be able to generate all kind of scenarios.

Yeah!
We need 45-60 of those, and it can even solve our toilet problem to some extent.

.
I think it is not correct yet. The numbers of MKI is a big issue. But with next 2 to 4 years it will make a big difference no matter India does. If you know what is in the pipeline you will understand my sentence. Nasr is just a simple part. There is a lot more that is going to change the picture in the air force arena.
