IAF had a bad experience with its Russian based hardware against PAF in the last skirmish in Kashmir. The magazine claims IAF had to play catch up against PAF whose Saab AEWC had greater situational awareness against IAF.

So Air India does not operate A330's. So my guess would be A320s. Having said that, this is what we're looking at (read: tons of modifications)

1. Brand new cockpit that integrates AEW&C specific systems. (its very different from airliners)

2) Structural modifications to the airframe that include.
a. SATCOMs, Radios, EO ports, other antenna's,
b. 360 degree radome.
c. Landing gear modification
d. Refueling probes and related systems,
e. Landing gear mods.

3) Enhanced engine power.
a. APU upgrades,
b. Engine remapping (They cannot do it without foreign collaboration)

Almost every DRDO project is late. ERJs were possible, but blacklisting killed the program in its tracks. Furthermore. DRDO cannot just integrate mods to aircraft without thorough test and evaluation of the systems and their design. It will be 10 years if they start the work TODAY, and if they're very successful - 7 years before the first aircraft rolls out Hence for that period, the next 7 to 10 years, PAF's AEW&C capability will be far superior vis a vis coverage radius, coverage hours per sector etc.

they are dumping Russia as an ally. as they cuddle with the yanks.

I hope Pakistan with collab with friendly nations can start a next Gen AEW&C programme beyond Erieye.

Why the fake headings... in the article nowhere its written that ...

one is full fledged AWACS with 360 degree coverage and radar range is over 500 kms...
SAAB one doesnt even fit in same category...

The whole issue was Russians are asking too much from Indians for the integration of Israeli Radar systems on IL-76...

it will be much cheaper for India to convert Airbus 320 taken from Air India ...
station our own Radar system on the same... the Indian Radar system provides almost same capabilities as Israeli PHALCON system ... so thr was no point buying foreign..

Many of paid articles do appear on Indian and International media when India wants to buy own defense systems... all of them field with paid news and some sources who can never be known...

Phalcon Systems are too few for a country like India ... India needs almost 15 such systems... so cant spend 20 billion on these... Indian ones will cost almost one third

Your phalcon so advance? Why your pilot need to drink tea in Pakistan?

As already said that we are short of AEW&C aircrafts and can cover around 12 hours/day. The same reason, IAF is in hurray to buy AEW&C aircrafts.

For a very small incident (Mig 21) if people do feel so much fake proud then I have nothing to say!

Excuse, excuse and excuse! IAF has 2 of them. The AEW range shall be enough to cover the entire border with Pakistan and yet u failed to do so.

While u shoot down none of the PAF aircraft.

You meant to say that only 2 aircrafts can fly non-stop 24 hours?

ZDK-03......

1993 is 17 years ago. It's outdated.

2020-1993 is 27 years. it is ancient in those terms. Plus The numbers are not sufficient to provide the necessary coverage for a huge airspace like India.

Its like you have a huge scanner that goes offline giving the opposition free time to surprise you

They will be integrating a 240 degree flat panel array radar.

Isn't the erieye what India was running around the world crying and complaining ? IIRC they were crying to Sweden and they even had their TTP goons do a terrorist attack to try and damage them but then PAF just repaired them? Pathetic Indian attempts :disagree:
