IAF holds exercise 'Iron Fist' in Pokhran

JAISALMER: In a breathtaking display of air power, Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft blasted away targets during day, dusk and night in a fire power demonstration, code named 'Iron Fist' at Chandan field firing range in Pokhran on Sunday. The dusk and night phases display were a first-ever by the IAF. While a Airborne Warning and Control System was used to monitor the mammoth exercise, an unmanned aerial vehicle streamed live video images of the target destruction. The air defence demonstration included firing of surface-to-air guided missiles.

Air Officer-Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, Air Marshal A K Gogoi and other senior officers witnessed the exercise. Gogoi reviewed the full dress rehearsal and gave directions on fine tuning of certain aspects.

More than 60 aircraft including frontline fighters - Mig-21 Bison, Mig-27, Mig-29, Mirage-2000, Su-30 MKI, Jaguars, Tejas LCA, transport aircraft namely Hercules, AN-32 and helicopters - Mi-17 1V and Dhruv Mi-35 participated in the exercise. Other unseen force multipliers included mid-air refuellers, AWACS and UAV. The day phase displayed the strike capability of ground attack fighter aircraft. The dusk phase displayed the war-waging capabilities of helicopters. The final phase by night showcased two major aspects of air power - counter-air operations and counter-surface operations.

A Mig-29 flying low and supersonic at 1250 kmph leaving in its wake a deafening sonic boom signalled an explosive start to the exercise. This was followed by a photo-reconnaissance mission by a formation of three Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft. Three waves of fly-past by a combination of Jaguar, Mig-21 Bison, Mig-27, Mig-29, Tejas and Mirage-2000 fighters followed before the armament delivery phase.

An array of targets including mock radar sites, tanks, marshalling yards, terrorist camps, runway, BMPs (infantry fighting vehicles), blast pens and convoys were selectively destroyed in precision attacks by IAF pilots using bombs, rockets and missiles. Both precision-guided ammunitions and conventional armament were used in the display.

Now that is called a nation with Iron fist or perfect land of trolls.

Flamers and thankwankers keeps silent when news of air exercises of Saudi, Turkey and other nations are posted.

Now I suppose that is called a nation with Iron fist.

He is a Chinese pretending to be from Taiwan. All the Taiwanese on this forum happen to be rabid PRC lovers, can't be a coincidence can it?

is there anywhere we can find the pics/vid of this ex? And will Vauy Shakti 2013 still happen in 2013 because the firepower exercise Iron Fist had previously been reported to take place in Feb 2013. A case of crossed wires?

Iron Fist by flying all russian made fighter jets?

wowo, what a great nation.

It's so funny to see Pakistanis thanking posts like this. Makes one wonder whether they ever think about their own country when thanking such posts.

Another such telling example was when we got the Akula 2 from Russia. Chinese were coming here and laughing at us for not building our own nuclear submarines. And Pakistanis were happily laughing with them. Who is the joke ultimately on?

Besides, do the Chinese who laugh at us for such things realize that this applies to all but 4 or 5 countries in the world, that we use foreign fighters? In particular, that this comment applies to Pakistan as well, although the intended audience for such comments is Pakistanis?

I am NOT trying to pick on Pakistan here. My intent is to remind everyone that only four or five countries have their own nuclear subs, and only two or three countries have their air forces fully made of their own jets. Neither India nor pak belong to either group. Use some common sense before you troll.

Or be fair, go laugh at Pakistan too, every time they conduct any exercise. Oh you wont do that, since they are your taller than mountains deeper than oceans friend. But every time you make fun of India, understand that it applies equally to every country in the world except maybe US, Russia and sometimes China.

Currently the joke is on the rather dim witted Pakistani who thanked your post. And the countless other Pakistanis who will do the same, since they would rather make fun of India than think of themselves first.
