Yes but the other jets that you mentioned such as the Mig-29 and MKIs both twin engine and can operate from a carrier(correct me on this one) so i asked. Also the upgraded mig-29s are i think meant solely for your carrier.

MKI cannot operate from carrier , it will need an awful lot of modifications before it is adaptable to that role and I highly doubt it will happen in future , same goes for IAF version of mig-29 , although the new mig 29k are specially modified for carrier role.

YOUR MIG21 nos are way too high. at 321.

I THINK ITS 125 BISON UPGRADE & 100 OR LESS OLDER MIG21s all of which will be gone by 2012

hence the hurry to induct the 130 mkii asap and order the mrca

Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) around 400 and will be made and bought and inducted by 2020

It will be 197 and not 400 unless you prove me wrong.

Not a single ordered yet. Unless you prove me wrong.

ndian Armed Forces have a requirement of 384 light utility helicopter to replace it's aging fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters. Earlier Ministry of Defense had scrapped a deal in which Eurocopter AS350 was chosen but later some irregularities were found in the selection process. The helicopters were sought only for India Air Force and then the Indian Army and Indian Navy has joined. Since then HAL has also joined the race with its HAL Light Observation Helicopter and the deal was splitted into 187 indigenous light utility helicopter and 197 foreign, that will be fielded in a new competition. [22] The new competition is expected to start soon and Eurocopter will field the military version Eurocopter Fennec in the trials this time. Deliveries of 133 helicopter for the Army and 64 for the Air Force should start by the end of 2010. and 25 dhruv Is Under construction too.

Indian Air Force has circulated the Request for Information for Heavy Lift Helicopters to the vendors. For this contract, the bidders could include Boeing's CH-47 Chinook, Sikorsky and Russian MI's. Indian Air Force has the requirement of 15-20 such helicopters.

Dear Amarnath,

Read your post earlier. U mentioned that x number of chinook's ordered and I countered by saying that no Chinook's are ordered yet. Now you are simply backing my point.

I know about the requirement. Point is they are yet to ordered.

The IAF MiG-29's are upgraded but they are not for Navy.

For Navy a separate bunch of MiG-29K is ordered which can operate from a carrier.

Su-30 doesnt belong to Navy at all.

As I mentioned earleir they are IAF property and a squadron is dedicated for Maritime Strike based at Pune.
