IAF begins Apache trials

Apache..no doubt..but even pakistan has got them isnt it ?

. . .
I have a question

Are these new attack Helicopters Meant to replace the Mil25/35 Hind Helicopters or are they meant to complement them
Coz Both the IAF and the Army have a fleet of 40 Mil25/35 each and i dont think that 22 Modern Helis can replace 80 Older Helicopters since mil25/35 were acquired during the late 80s and

I don't think this is correct, if you go through wiki, or BR, you will see, that only IAF has combat helicopters at the moment (22 Mi 35) and these should be replaced with this competition.
If we keep in mind that IA already will get a bigger number of LCH and weaponised Dhruvs for anti tank and CAS roles, it would be interesting what the aim of IAF is with 2 squads of these heavy combat helicopters?
I would say, it's not about just higher fire power compared to LCH, I think they should be more specialised, with avionics and capabilities like Radar, UAV control for example.
The combination of some Apaches and UAVs in forward roles and more LCH following them could be a very good combination against tanks, or targets alongside the borders.
I generally would prefer the Apaches too, but would go for around 3, or 4 squadrons with the size of India in mind.

India seems to be locked in a battle of quantity which is a 50 years old doctrine. How will they maintain and manage soo much equipment while being largely on the defence. A very big money hog and more important who are they going to attack?? Definately not China and Pakistan is no soft pill.."afghanistan" ahead.

When the Indian stockpile would increase, they would be in position to go on offensive, even if not practically then diplomatically pushing Pakistan to the levels possible. Deterrence is power, even if it is kept in storage. For China, India would try to use its economic card as military threat wouldn't give a return that India wants.

Well Indian economy is scheduled to be more than 2 trillion in about 4 years...keeping the same percentage as now the defense budget will be close to 80-100 billion dollars a year. India signs many international deals because she does not have much of a domestic arms industry...if they start investing in the domestic industry the no of international deals will plummet rapidly.

I hope the new Mi-28 wins the trials as compared to Apache. We have been two-timed enough already by Washington. Sorry to say this but despite good mutual people-to-people relations, the American government messes it all up thanks to their 'balancing act' with us and Pakistanis.

Whats the point in having such an extensive trail done for just 22 helis. If they select anything other than the Mi series from Russai they will have to set up a seperate logistic line for this 22 alone, which isnt worth it. Rather than this the IAF should order more Mi as a stop gap arrangement and help HAL speed up the LCH.

We will manage it the same way pakistan manages Bell AH-1 Cobra, Bell 412, Bell 407 and Mil Mi-8/17
