its a very good news that our bangladeshi (n not bangali) bhais are doing great with their economy. hopefully , they wud see great heights of peace, prosperity and power.
saying that however, i must add, their dream of containing india with other regional powers is laughable at most.
they wud do this to india, do that to india. .....a nation which can only complain about intervention by its neighbours and can do nothing about it , dont deserve the bragging rights.
unless bay of bengal dries up mysteriously and the land recovered is uncontestedly gifted to Bdesh, it has a bleak future.
india has been quite kind to the existence of bangladesh, if not thoroughly benevolent.

I know about international norms. But these stats can be exaggerated by the 1% in India. Take a look at Mumbais per capita. $18000 dollars. Do you really think common man earns 18000 annum in Mumbai? Lol.

I've been to both countries I know which is doing better. Pakistan doesn't have rate of open defecation or poverty as India does NO DOUBT

so u mean to say all of 22 million mumbaikars should be earning $18K jus cos mumbai GDP is $18k, Lol. Dude even you know it, that it is an avg figure of the total GDP of mumbai's economy divided by its population,there are ppl who earn a million $ per annum and other who may even earn $3600pa. Jus cos u hv been to mumbai,if ever,doesn't means u know the complete story,peopld may be living in slums,bt there are ppl frm all walks of life who live there.Plz dont sound as if there's no poverty in Pakistan,if tht would hv been the case ,you would hv been ranked higher than India. South Asia on a whole isn't developed ,taking cheap shots at one another sounds so childish.

they project BD to be ahead of pak by 2016,you guys seems to be havin' a good run though srilanka is an exception.

Its all predictions at this stage, nothing concrete. Who is to say pakistan wont get its act together. I hope they do, its not a race, i just hope BD grows and the growth is distributed as evenly as possible and not concentrated to just a few elite families.

The biggest threat to Bangladesh is India. India wants weak neighbours, economically and militarily.

If Bangladesh starts to develop economically, India might flood Bangladesh which will cause untold economic damage.

Definately,such projection are made based on current scenarios,theres always a revision by either IMF or any other such agency's,lastest example ws the IMF world outlook revised in Oct. Certain economies could either rise or fall,you neva know.

@ India will continue to interfere in the internal matters of Bangladesh until we break their finger. But the question is how to break ? Some of the bright ideas are given below :

1. Have a good relation with China short of defence pact.
2. Have a cordial relation with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Burma.
3. Have a good relation with Islamic World.
4. Start sponsering the insurgents of 7 sisters.
