This is not limited to 3rd world...It is all over although women in 1st world have increasingly being emboldened but stats are still abysmal..

It is an evolutionary trait above all.. Women have been raped or harassed for ages and unfortunately will be raped in future. In ancient times , they had to endure it because resisting it would get them killed. Hard to fight biology which took millions of years of evolution to form in its current shape.

I think that we are talking at cross purposes here. I was not talking about rape in particular but the role of police in general.

see the difference between first world and 3rd world by comparing arrests/conviction/punishments for corruption in the UK, France, S. Korea, China versus Pakistan BD and India.

BTW. I know of a case of rape in AJK where the victim of rape was re-raped in the Thaana. I know of countless rape incidents in India where the politicians (under the protection of police) marched/demonstrated in favor of the rapists.

So sexual assault victims are not supposed to try and recover and live their life normally?

They should not only suffer the trauma of being assaulted, but also let the perpetrator destroy the rest of their lives and prevent them from being happy & travelling?

The facts are that, like men or any other human being, women will react differently to trauma. Some women are mentally strong and able to push through the trauma quicker than others. Some are never able to recover mentally and live in a shell.

Generalizing and disparaging women because they don't meet YOUR definition or expectations of how a survivor of sexual assault should behave is really disgusting and an insult to those who have suffered trauma of any kind.

Disagree strongly on that.

The subject here is her allegation that she was sexually assaulted.

She has provided specific details, including approaching the US Embassy officials when the assaults occurred and what they said to her.

Her skin color has nothing to do with the allegations she has made.

On the other hand, we have a pretty good idea about the moral and ethical failings of the individuals she has accused - Rehman Malik and Yusuf Raza Gillani.

If you were to go on publicly available information alone, Cynthia's character is far better than that of the accused.
