I underestimated Pakistani scientists

A certain Abdus Salam counts.

Mohammad Abdus Salam was a Pakistani theoretical physicist who, when he shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to electroweak unification, became the first Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize and also the second Muslim to win the prize, after Anwar Sadat of Egypt, and the first Muslim to win the prize in science.

In plain words, Abdus Salam (and his colleagues) managed to achieve the first significant step towards a grand unified theory - something Einstein spent the later half of his life striving for, and which eluded his grasp to the very end. His contributions do not end there, however: it was Salam who introduced the Higgs boson mechanism to the then-nascent Standard Model of physics, and who worked with Jeffrey Goldstone in trying to understand how Goldstone bosons could exist. These are not trivial.

Wikipedia goes on and on about him. The prolific manner in which he worked is reminiscent of one genius civil engineer from India - Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Both these personalities worked relentlessly almost throughout their lives and made optimal achievements.

In 1965, the plutonium reactor Pakistan Atomic Research Reactor went critical under the leadership of Salam.

After spending some time in PDF Op got to know about Dr. Abdus Salaam and his religious afiliations and very well know that he is somewhat contravercial topic so he started a thread to create tension between Pakistani members. Very well done by baniya thinking.

Keep Science and politics separate.
