What's new

I kept my promise, Rajiv did not, says Benazir

Does she call her self chairperson of PPP for lifetime, when she can act such insane way admitting her own blunder as leader?

I still doubt Nawaz and BB to competent enough to run for PM hood!

She has reinforced her incompetency being leader and PM and stateswoman.

Am glad about it and am waiting for Nawaz to say something in his defence!

She is trying to pull anti Indian vote but she has ended up messing herself and hampering her position.

She was in better position being shutup when NSA Narayan declared her to be poisonous and cunning.

Anyway! am glad she has done the damage to herself. I think she should better go back to Dubai

Hi,

My understanding is that Aitzaz Ahsan was the man who delivered the list to the indians on the directives of Benazir.

Blain, it was a wishful thinking on my part and nothing more than that. Benazir is too much in love with her image---the only good thing that may come out of it is if she gets in power and reacts to something and takes a stand on an issue to protect her image and that stance inadvertantly helps pakistan through no fault of hers and pakistan gets the benefit by default.

Salim, did I ever tell the quote from my favourite writer WILBUR SMITH, no---here it is

Once upon a time, in the african veld, there lived a mighty bull elephant. The bull elephant had big flappy ears and in the right ear lived a flea. Now one day while this bull elephant was meandering around, it came across a deep flowing river which had a rickety old bridge on it. As animals do, he took the easy way out and started crossing that wooden bridge---the lumber creaked and groaned under his weight, some of the boards cracked, the ropes holding the bridge started to snap at their strands, the bridge was moving right and left and felt like coming down any time, but the elephant made it across. Once on the other side, the elephant shook itslef and thanked the powers to be to have safely made it to the other side when the FLEA living in his right ear suddenly stated, ' hey buddy, didn't we shake that bridge together'. This quote is not 100 % in its original context.

The u s has a habbit of sticking those stakes right through the heart when it wants to. I would not dwell on them too much.

Mastan,

One is well aware of the US and its policies and their manner of working.

However, with China not going away in her quest for global supremacy, the US would not be in too much of a hurry to shake off anything.

It will be of interest to note that the US is keen also to build up a pro US Shia crescent and Iran is the stumbling block and hence the attention. The Balochistan issue is in this context, where a totally committed Baloch situation would be excellent to put the squeeze on Iran and under sheer weight of this problem, have a regime change without any war!

Kissinger's concept of 'proxy war', where the US' hand is not soiled, is worth reading and understanding!

The aim is to balance the regions of the world and weigh it in the US' favour.

Salim,

The time and place of proxy wars went away with 9/11 and Kissinger's material is outdated and outmoded now. Stronger nations have found out that proxy wars are double edged swords. Technology has created many an equalizers.

There is no pro u s shia crescent---never say never---but u s is trying to hide its embarrassment of creating one and aides have come up with the idea of of pro u s shia crescent. Was the bombing in syria a part of the strategy---to keep them in line and put them in their place. Russia wants to keep its pro russian shia crescent----so we will see who wins this war. The bear is not going to let go of its domain without putting up a good fight.

There is no totally committed baloch situation to put a squeeze on the iranians. The few of them can't hold their own against the para millitary forces at this stage----the baloch at large are very peaceful people. It looks like a great possibility that five years down the road, with so many projects seeing completion, the afghan refugees goin back to afghanistan next year, would be changing the flora of thought and job market in that area. So, that firecracker would prove to be a dud.

India does not bring in any balance to the situation in this area---it is an outsider---will always be considered as one---it is a misconception that india will stand up to a master 12000 miles away----but then never say never---we will love to see india wag its tail to its new master.

Salim,

Proxy war can never be outdated. They appear in new avatars and reinvents itself and hence Kissinger, the brilliant but diabolical mind, can never be far behind! The situation in Pakistan is but a proxy war reinvented. Taliban and AQ is being attacked by Pakistan on behalf of the US. Enough has been written on this forum to show the anger of Moslems being made to kill Moslems and so on.

One should not be a slave to technology. They are mere force multipliers and they can never replace boots on the ground in the same way that tanks and artillery can never replace infantry since victory is measured in physical occupation of territory.

Direct wars have telling effect on the morale of the civilian population of the country waging war as also it becomes a prestige issue that has to pursued till the end, ruining the progress and development of the country embarking on such a war. The US is realising the same, more so in Iraq than in Afghanistan, where in the latter it has others mostly doing the work for them on both sides of the Durand Line!

Like it or not, pleasant or otherwise, the Shia crescent is an important aspect in the US policy. Against the Taliban, the US had used the Northern Alliance to its good use and it also looked the other side when others were supporting the Northern Alliance. It was obvious that it wanted the Taliban out. Even the Karzai govt has important portfolios with the Northern Alliance people.

Implementing a country's geostrategy is time consuming and there is no Merlin's magic wand!

Indeed, Russia is also involved in maintain the divide amongst the Shias and Sunnis in the ME to Afghanistan. It has to have a weak underbelly or else it will be in serious trouble!

Therefore, both the US and Russia are working towards the same goal but jockeying in concert to ensure that neither the Shia nor the Sunni countries get the upper hand.

Oceans after all start as mere droplets and then these droplets turn into rivers and these rivers pour into chasms to make the oceans.

Jobs and economy can never snuff out the human tendency to be supreme. If you look at the world, we as humans, are the same with the same desires to live our lives as best as we can. But in that thought, there burns the desire to excel and get even better. That creates competition and this, in turn, starts the r-at race. Same is true of nations.

Therefore, even if all is well with people, there will be means to drive the shaft and create new ghosts to run after.

India does not bring in any balance to the situation in this area---it is an outsider---will always be considered as one---it is a misconception that india will stand up to a master 12000 miles away----but then never say never---we will love to see india wag its tail to its new master.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

As far as the US being India's master, I think it would be better to analyse it deeper. India does not take anything free from the US nor has India been bought by lollies given to India gratis. India pays the US for what it buys. India takes no aid or free lollies since the national pride is not up for sale, nor is India that poverty stricken that it humbly and gratefully accept money and freebies and then jumps to the crack of the US whip!

Thank the Creator for small mercies!

So, there is no such thing for India called wagging its tail to the new master! ;) :)

But her statement is wonderfully timed (also convenient since it cannot be verified since Rajiv Gandhi is dead and so cannot give his version) to garner votes from the anti Indian lobby that finds Musharraf being too cosy with India!

Anti Indian sentiments do pull in votes!

u will be surprised. i can say anti-indian sentiment is not a crowd puller anymore. sure u will have your neo-cons and rightists but which country dosnt.

BB i must say is very good at this game, but she is not pulling in the crowds as she used too. people are more aware of the shenanigins of the politicans. look at NS - coming off as goody two shoes these days, talking about democratic values (him of all people - invention of zia)

Salim,

I have made my point and any further, both of us will go blue in the face trying to protect our turfs. Some droplets fall in the desert---they never became an ocean in india---they won't make any diference in the northern part of the sub-continent either.

The relationship between india and u s is no secret---pakistan has been through it twice---you may give it any name----friends not masters----partners on qual terms---allies for the same cause---new alliance between present and future super powers---the *** pack---jack and jill show---it is what it is---giving it a name would not change the reality----All u s relationships are based upon the Donald Rumsfeld's principal----' If they want to say how it is, that is fine with us '. As long as america gets the 'booty' when it wants to, whats the big deal in a name.

It is very heartening to hear that anti Indian sentiment is not a crowd puller.

The anti Pakistan rhetoric in India is a thing of the past.

It is indeed a good thing that is happening.

As far as BB is concerned, she maybe popular with the people, but personally I find a good orator but beyond that I don't find her very engrossing!

revenge for disintegrating our Country

Oh comeon...it would have happened sooner or later....notwithstanding all the discrimination against Bangladeshis, which country in the world manages to exist as two chunks of land separated by a thousand kms of hostile territory?

It would have been wiser to create Bangladesh in '47 itself.

Cannot say that since at that time all the Muslim majority areas were decleared Part of Pakistan and Bengal was divided in East and West Bengal, the former to be the part of Pakistan and the later the part of India.

But the policies and politics of Pakistan created the problem which resulted as Bangladesh. East Bengal was a part of Pakistan by its will on 1947.
