Former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan said his views about India changed after he visited the neighbouring country to play cricket, Indian media reported.

In an interview with CNN-IBN, Khan said that he grew up “hating India” due to the bloodshed and violence associated with the partition.

“I grew up hating India because I grew up in Lahore and there were massacres of 1947, so much bloodshed and anger. But as I started touring India, I got such love and friendship there that all this disappeared,” Khan said.

“As time passed, I realised that there’s so much we have in common. We have a similar history, there’s so much in culture that’s so similar compared to Western countries. Above all, there is so much the people of two countries (can) benefit from if we have a civilised relationship,” he added.

Talking about his policy related to the future relationship of the two countries, Khan said if his party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) came to power in the next general election, he would do his utmost to improve relations between the two countries.

“I can give my best shot. I can fight to the last ball. We can only try. Success is sometimes not in our hands, it is in hands of the Almighty. So I can say that I will give it my best shot,” he said.

PTI Chairman said he prayed to god to allow him to work for better India-Pakistan relations “because I, for one, have received so much love in India”.

Khan said: “Absolutely, I have no prejudice against any country, and more specifically, India.”

Referring to Indian cricket team’s tour of Pakistan in 2005-06, Imran said: “Id never seen two countries as close as that. So its very sad that Mumbai happens (and) we were back to square one”.

Did i said that it is not happening in India ?

Almost every indian and pakistani grew hating each other. No need of saying that

. . . .
The situation in India is also not that different.

Agree with what you have said , its both ways the blood shed , kashmir etc have only ignited hatred towards each other. I see Imran has the right attitude here he is speaking the truth , if he carries this way .. he might be able to defuse the tensions.

.
From where I stand I see a time sometime in the next decade when in both countries the generation that lived through the partition will more or less die out and the ones who inherited their hatred will be sharing power with younger, open minded leaders.
That would be our best shot at peace, but until then...this is a great start.

. .
Now he is getting the "Statements-to-say-to-become-Pakistani-PM" right.

Congos Imran

Imran Khan seems to be more level header and rational than Gilani and Zardari ! I for one will be pleased if his party wins the polls !

Funny it may seem - Gilani and Zardari are one of the shrewdest politicians I have seen in a long time. IK in contrast seems to come across as a reactionary fellow.

My personal opinion though.

.
He seems to be a honest guy.
Saw his interview on CNN-IBN.

But the indo-pak relation cannt be changed by one MMS or one Imran Khan.
To be frank Gilani does not seem so bad guy to me. If Imran is given same authority as Gilani, he wont be able to do anything.

Imran Khan, all this talk is getting really nauseating. If you can even half of the things you are saying, I think Pakistan will progress further. Let's see if you mean these things if you get into power, I hope you do (keep your promises). Talk is cheap.

Sometimes I find Imran Khan embarrassingly stupid. I mean I won't hide it, and yes I don't like India.

If Pakistan and India can resolve their territorial disputes according to just and moral principles, then perhaps bilateral relations can be normalized, but to be "best friends" with India is stupid.
We can cooperate, but please not "best friends."

Pakistan is a different country from India. Pakistan and India are not the same.

Pakistan and India have different cultures.

I personally feel, that once the war in Afghanistan is over, Pakistan will have more in common with Afghanistan and Central Asia than with India.

I detest the "Indian-lovers" in Pakistan, so nauseating.

.
He didn't say he loves India. And love is blind, you know what I am saying? The "hate" disappeared because he "reasoned," but din't transform into love, I bet.
Y'all know what I am saying?
