'I feel like I did after 9/11': Robert De Niro shares his anger following Trump's victory

You are right. She risked so much. And how cool is that? Someone from the subcontinent has the potential to be the first female President. But I fear she might be a bit too progressive for America. Hopefully things change by then.

She's not from the subcontinent, she's from American Samoa, an island in the south Pacific.

I dont think shes 'too' progressive, I think the future of candidates like her and Sanders pretty much depend on how the alternative (Trump) perform when they are given office. If Trump loses approval, and resigns, or is impeached, then I can see the next election easily going to the Democrats fielding a 'progressive' candidate.

My mistake. In my defence many of these South Pacific islanders directly relate to the subcontinent, so I assumed her to be one of them.

Personally, I don't think Trump will fail. He is still a successful businessman who won an election against presumed overwhelming odds.

He's fought the American oligarchy and won, that's no easy accomplishment even for the most seasoned politicians. The fact is people know Trump can't be bought, and that makes him very scary.

I think the republican party have pretty much set him up to fail, look at his VP and the people he may be considering to put in cabinet. All of them (Pence, Gulianni, Gingrich, Chris Christie) are horrible, corrupt, and extreme right-wing politicians who unlike Trump have a long history with the republican party, some are predicting that they will get Trump impeached and the republicans will get their own yes-man Mike Pence into the presidency, who by the way is an extremist christian fundamentalist.

and Trump can be bought, look at his relationship with Putin, all he said was some nice words about him and Trump is pretty much in love with the guy. there are also people being put up as potential cabinet members simply because they donated a lot of money to his campaign. All of that 'cant be bought' bs was just fluff to get him elected, watch his actions over the next couple of months and you will see just how much Trump lied.

He won't get impeached. He's on a Trump wave, like Modi wave, it was a one man show throughout. The people who voted for him will lynch their senators in the streets at worst, if that happens, or they can kiss their careers goodbye. The people voted for him and only him, no one else.

He will have to do something extremely stupid to get impeached. But if he makes policies that starts helping, then nothing bad will happen to him. For example, if he reduces corporate taxes to 15 or 20%, the media, the oligarchy etc won't touch him. And if he brings back manufacturing jobs to the rust belt, then nothing will stop him from even winning the next election.

Putin and Trump are on the same wavelength regarding some issues, particularly ISIS. That's why Putin endorsed him. Basically, Trump is very vindictive, his pride won't allow him to do something that goes against what he wants. And he has money, so his main aim will be to build a legacy so he can be remembered, that's why he's less susceptible to be influenced.

Mr. De Niro, you are very wealthy individual, but I would still be glad to buy you and some of your Hollywood crybaby friends a one-way first-class ticket to anywhere in the world.

Just as long as you agree never to come back to the United States.

P.S. I'll even pack your bags and take you to the airport.
You talkin' to me?

True but not all of his policies are particuarly airtight.

  • tax cuts to the wealthy
  • pumping money into coal,
  • sidelining key NATO allies
  • building a large border wall
  • pissing off the military establishment
  • throwing away the Affordable Care Act

The media will exploit it to make people pissed off, American debt will explode, and the cost of living skyrocket since American goods will just command American prices which will be harder for your average person to afford.

Im hoping he was bluffing, but if he does actually plan on going through with some of his campaign promises, it will be a shitshow and I'd bet the republicans will use the opportunity to force him out and make themselves look like heroes in the process. The average man would support them if Trump ended up making even a single mistake, so throughout his presidency he will likely be under a massive magnifying glass waiting for the smallest slip-up.

The only thing I like about his ideas is NASA getting a budget increase, and a massive infrastructure program across the US.

Yup, Election of Trump=death of 3000 Americans and multiple failed wars :hitwall:.

What a whacko.

Its high time libtards respected ppls mandate. It was not a vote for trump but vote against hilary. Protesting or whining looks childish, it was a fair process and they need to accept & move ahead.

Perfectly fine. It's a good decision because only the wealthy can create value.
Agree, it's a stupid decision but he has too many bureaucratic hurdles to cross. Basically, he can't go against the Paris Agreement, Obama has seen to that.
Election rhetoric. He just wants the EU to spend more on defence. He's confirmed with Japan and Korea that nothing will change to allay their fears.
India has massive walls along the Indo-Pak border. And planning one for BD also.

Nothing wrong with that.

Dunno. He's talking about increasing the defence budget and make the military more pro-active, particularly against China and ISIS. His foreign policy is all rhetoric, so don't worry about that.
He'll only change the name. Who the hell names something so important after himself? Obamacare? What was Obama thinking? It was obvious that a Republican will change it. And to add insult to injury, he will rename it Trumpcare and wait until the next Democrat changes the name again.

That's not true bro. If you reduce corporate taxes and slap higher import tariffs, the corporations will create value within the country. He wants to reduce income taxes also. There are so many things that can be made in the US which won't cost a lot more than compared to the international market.

If he creates jobs, he will stay. If he doesn't he will not get re-elected. But he won't get impeached, he's way to shrewd for that.

All Trump-haters are hoping for impeachment, but that won't happen. The entire election was a one man show. The people voted him into power because they hope he will change things. You see, if he is stopped midway, Trump will just blame the Republican Party for his failures, that will end careers that way, in the process absolve himself. The Republican Party isn't that stupid.

Actually, it's called the "Affordable Care Act". But some people (especially Republicans) just call it "Obamacare" because his administration crafted it. Many people also call it "the ACA".

That's exactly it. He is not against it, he just wants to kill its legacy.

You must already be aware of the egoistical differences between Trump and Obama right? Obama's even publicly insulted Trump to extremes.

The guy's really vindictive. He wants to kill Obama's legacy.

I'm not on either side, I'm Indian.

I claimed Trump would win this election back in December last year. When Trump and Clinton were selected, I knew the Republicans had it in the bag.

As an Indian, I'm only concerned with what he can offer India. As of now it looks good.

Whatever man !! The fact is more than half of America opted for the greater of the two evil and now deal with it . Trump touched the ground realities , the main issues and that appealed to the American people(that includes latins , muslims and blacks). The people that now criticize Trump are unfortunately irrelevant .
