What's new

I do not think my female friends should come back to Pakistan

Harsh article. Women are to be seen in every city, at work, at leisure etc. The villages and towns need some work, but this is a developing country. As for the laws protecting women, steps are being made in that regard.

Because most people in my country either hate them or do not care about them. I shall explain in just a minute.

This is utter nonsense.

In itself, the idea of not being able to freely walk around without being ogled or groped at is greatly dismaying.

It sure is bud;

It happens.

@Akheilos That's one of the other reason why I wanted women protections bill of Punjab assembly to be a bit more well thoughtout and more geared towards local Pakistani conditions. Just passing bills won't do much without institutional and structural changes required to make Pakistan a better, safe place for our girls.
I agree that when making policies one has to be thorough however, I ASKED on that thread and got no reply of whatelse needs to be added, what is causing SOME men in our society to call it UN ISLAMIC and furthermore, why SOME are feeling threatened?

Not one brought in anything new, quoting randomly and nit picking did not answer my questions :enjoy:

Ok lets just say it is a problem of lack of respect for women, we are uncivilized, our culture is shitty and lets even add the misogynist society or words like Patriarchy and whatnot.....then question arises why is the same true for the highly evolved West?

The problem actually is less to do with all this as a separate entity but more to do with what the idea of women is seen as...In the EAST or traditional way they are given less rights coz men feel they need to prove their worth..without a barrier this kind of suffocates the very person (women) they are supposed to protect....and hence oppression...

What is West's excuse to push the woman as a sexual object? From car ads with women in skanky clothing? I mean there really are very little ads which actually have all men until and unless it is exclusively a male thing...but even then they manage to put a woman towards the end approving the product

Look at this social experiment ..such behaviour is common on street of western countries and even get worse at night when they come out from night clubs..police patrol on street to save them from rape
I know hence my question still remains standing....Sure we are lawless, barbaric backward whatever words you wanna throw in to make yourself feel better....But what is the excuse for similar crap happening in the west?

The idiot wasnt backing down plus I was with a couple of male cousins so I gave him a piece of his own medicine....Besides being a science student I have a very weird idea of torture for such men!

I feel sorry for these so called liberals who involve in self-pity by bashing and generalizing their own race/country/people . If we have some idiots who involve in eve teasing or harassments of women in some bazaar crowdy places then we also have those who stand for such victims and would not even hesitate to give slap to such lofers goons. No society is entirely saint or evil and it should be the job of parent/teacher/molviz to educate young mind about how they should treat woman/elders etc. If you are going with your sister or wife and you hate it when random guys staring/ogling at your family women then its not rocket science to understand how others would feel it if you do the same to their sisters and wives. Its all about your own morals and principles rather than where you are living

This is the major problem you see...it is somewhat universal .....its ok if you do it to another's woman but god forbid if someone gives you a taste of your own medicine! I mean its not even a desi thing....I have seen white people turn all sorts of colour when you pose similar scenario (what they are doing to other people's women) to them about their women...

Its all about your own morals and principles rather than where you are living
EXACTLY!

But sadly some people feel the need to paint 1 society darker than the other ...Psychologists say it is the need to fit in that causes some to overdo such things or form a blind spot of the same issues in a different society/ level!

. . .
They have tv shows in Pakistan which attempt to "expose" couples out on dates in public. This is the height of radicalism. You won't see many women out in the streets of Pakistan like you do in the west, all you see on Pakistani streets are men in kameez shalwar. It is true that women in Pakistan are suppressed and cannot express themselves. In KPK and Balochistan they are thought of as property and cannot even get an education hence why the female literacy rates in that region are shockingly low. You have a pro women's protection bill in Pakistan being objected by cavemen mullahs since it is apparently unislamic. The situation in Pakistan is too depressing and my condolences to those that have to suffer in Pakistan's backwards society.
