I do not think my female friends should come back to Pakistan

. . .
You cannot take one thing that have one flaw and say it is the equivalent as another thing that have ten flaws. That kind of absolutism is usually rejected by daily living.
1 to 10? I gave 3 goods of America and asked 1 question....

I dont get how you get 1 and equating it to 10?

You need to clarify what you said or dont say it!

Pakistan may have 10 flaws, I can find articles in America for the same 10 flaws....My question is we do have problems so we have flaws, whats your excuse?

. .
There are plenty of places in Islamabad/Pindi, Lahore and Karachi where you can go out, have a good time and avoid things like catcalling.

good thing your sense of law is not in America.
As a matter of fact it is worse ....1 word kind of kills every single fundamental right of an American...that 1 word is Trump!

@Akheilos pr=public relations,i would also use pr for propaganda.
hehehe...I realized after I scrolled back at what was being talked about :ashamed:

. . .
The US is not perfect, but when there is a persistence among people who have traveled to the US that America is preferable -- in most metrics -- than where they came from, you cannot casually dismiss these perceptions.
My question is not in regard to what is preferable ....It is in regard to why hasnt better laws, preferable environment ELIMINATED the same problems we face in Pakistan? The same problems people cry about in Pakistan can be sought in America....Each and EVERY single one of them!

I mean we have problems we dont have women rights group all over, but you guys have never had a woman president, I wonder why!

We have problems but even in America you have rape, harassment and the whole package! Why even with stricter laws then us you have the same crime as us?

Your exaggeration of what Trump could do -- not can do -- in the US is evasion from the discussion.

You do not have to accept anyone's opinion of Pakistan. But that refusal does not entitle you to casually dismiss the opinions of those who have lived in the West, especially when they were borne in and grew up in Pakistan. No one can tell these people that they 'should not' view Pakistan thru a Western filter when they have lived in both worlds. You have to take their voices seriously. Rebut their opinions with your opinion. Pointing out our flaws is pointless to these people simply because they have lived among us and know our flaws. You have to convince these people that the flaws in Pakistan are preferable than the flaws in the West.

Not at all to me he is the side joke :)

I would expect the person who has been brought up in Pakistan to view the world through Pakistan's view, no?

I mean I dont expect an expat to come to Pakistan and start viewing Pakistan through our eyes....Do you?

You have to take their voices seriously.
Why? I have lived out of Pakistan since I was 2 yrs old I dont bad mouth it in papers....Sure I criticize the laws and I know what is wrong, but I dont put opinions into people's minds.

Likewise, I see a lot of flaw in the Western laws, I discuss them with most of my colleagues who do take up European law...so far all have agreed that it is strange that despite having so many more "rights" and "laws" , same problems exist in every country on the planet even the West! Hence my question....if having better laws didnt eradicate the problem (as many a times is suggested), what would?

You have to convince these people that the flaws in Pakistan are preferable than the flaws in the West.
Flaws are flaws, there is no such thing as 1 is preferred over the other!

Are people not living in isolated villages of Pakistan? Are people not living in the cold mountains of the Himalayan or the scotching desserts of the Sahara? Are people not living in war torn Iraq? Same crimes, same homo sapiens....in America with laws and in other countries without laws, but still same problems, whats missing?

The difference is in degrees of severity. Am not talking about the severity of the laws but in occurrence. What you are saying is that a paper cut is the same as a stab.

I mean we have problems we dont have women rights group all over, but you guys have never had a woman president, I wonder why!
Certainly not because of misogyny. Our political system requires the candidate to convince ALL Americans, not just women and women's issues, on why he or she should be President.

Sorry...But I doubt Americans will be holding Pakistani politics up as example for us to follow.

We have problems but even in America you have rape, harassment and the whole package! Why even with stricter laws then us you have the same crime as us?
Because we are dealing with human nature. The issue is which society provides better redress for the victims of crimes.

Put it bluntly, YOU are a man. It is hard for a Pakistani woman who have lived in both countries to take YOUR criticism of her when it comes to rape.
