I've heard many indians say the Urdu spoken by Pakistanis whether in speeches,talkshows or dramas, sounds poetic to them -they don't mean 'poetic' like in shairi but poetic in it's sound, like how italian is considered a sensual language

I watched native average urdu speaker speaking urdu on tv, honestly I think other pakis speak better urdu with proper accent. Like Imran Khan for exemple speak with perfect urdu accent.

all languages borrow from each other anways, and so does punjabi; sanskrit is the base of all indo aryan languages including urdu.

Urdu started development in the times of Delhi sultanate at least back in 12th century but progressed into it's present form 300 years ago; Punjabi is not some very old language anyways like urdu, hell there was no Punjab 500 years ago until Mughals carved a province from Sindh Sagar, and then a language from the region began being called Punjabi, the rest of Punjab was later added by conquests of Ranjit Singh such as Waseb and Potohar, even then Punjabi was never official language, even during local rule of Sikhs empire, Farsi was the language of administration, language of elites and lingua franca

It's okay for you to love your first language, it's also my father's language but don't make lies to appease your inner chauvinist.

Fortunately most Punjabis don't have such an attitude towards Urdu, the ones that do probably speak like Sheikh Rasheed hence the acrimony towards it

A Bengali should be last one to give lecture on replacing mother tongue with Urdu. My love for Punjabi is not on expense of national unity.

Multilingual countries do not last. Which is exactly why the smart guy Modi likes promoting Hindi all over India as the language of national unity. With all the unity in diversity, hindu nationalism and strong economic growth combined with superpower prospect for India, a multilingual country will break, if not in a 100 year, maybe after 500 years. Punjabi is umbrella term for all dialects, variants of language spoken (I know it very well hence specifically mentioned dialects/variants in my earlier posts), coining new name doesn't mean that language didn't existed, while same can't be said for Urdu

I am making lies? Do you really think Urdu is older than Western Indic language (Punjabi)?

I was also watching interview of urdu speaker actor, and he sound weired. Like he just recently moved out of UP. Maybe accent, sound etc is making difference here. He was speaking proper urdu and not confusing j with z like Indians but still sounded like them.

But average urdu speaker sound even more bhaiya while speaking urdu.

Bangalies didn't accepted Urdu as national language let alone replacing it with mother tongue. But anyway nobody in Pakistan have problem with Urdu, so don't worry.

Modi is not smart, our lawmakers who gave us constitution were. India was made a federal country specifically because we are people of different identities. BTW language is one important identity but not only one. Tribal identity is still more primitive and brings out base instinct.
People tried hindi thing in 60s, it led to language riots and unnecessary division. Thankfully there was no bangladesh in India, because democracy made sure the voice was heard.

In the age of globalization when people are travelling and settling in new places, multi ethnic/ multi cultural/ multilingual people will find it much easier in future to live in interesting places. Most people in the world are going to live in big cities where you will encounter multiple identities everyday. One has to get used to it, and not hold a grudge.
