Tougher rape law leading to increase in false cases? - The Times of India

Statistics on the disposal of rape cases in Delhi's trial courts show a sharp increase in the acquittal rate after the infamous December 16, 2012.
While in 2012, the acquittal rate in rape cases was 46%, in the first eight months of 2013 (for which exact figures are available) it shot up to 75%. Sources said acquittals remain high this year as well, accounting for around 70% of the cases.

Offcource its also happening. It doesnt meant that rapes are not happening here in India.. Acquitals can be happen because of lack of evidence also.. Doctors can be bought, reports can be fabricated.. Its all happening here in India.. Eve teasing and rapes are some serious issues Indian women facing..

Read the link , am not saying rapes and eve teasing are not happening . but to say doctors are bought and reports fabricated just because it does not follow a certain line of thought is Ridicules.
70-75% is too big a number and clearly tells there is something wrong .

I read the link mate.. And I have a best friend who is having a false domestic abuse case against him by his wife just because he refuse to stay with her at her home.. I dont need much examples for these kind of cases.. I am not asking you to follow a certain line of thought, All I am saying is.. These kind of things happening here in India..May be we can do something like respond when someone eve teases a women..I know its difficult, many of us were trying to avoid problems and trying to live day to day life..But its our fault that India become the second least secured place for women and we have to do something about it.. And I still stand in my statement about doctors can be bought and reports can be fabricated.

I highly Doubt that claim of second least secured holds any value , on what basis was this research done ? Is it only based on reported rapes or is it based on rapes reported and solved ? Does it take the population into account ? Did they really check the rapes per capita which is a more realistic figure ? does it have unreported rapes which is difficult to assume considering they are unreported . Or does it take the 70% of the cases being proven false into account There is definitely a problem but the whole thing is being exaggerated and blown out of proportions and the victims will be you and me with Ridiculously harsh one sided rape laws.

But its our fault that India become the second least secured place for women and we have to do something about it.

Being a women i can just say no tough law can make a man stop from raping a women. Does death penalty stop a man from committing murder.

I urge the Indian forum members to reply to me for a simple question. Will you rape a girl if the punishment for rape is reduced???????????????????

And here lies the solution. The upbringing the education. Education holds the key not the punishments. You cannot stop men or women from crime by fear of law. Its the mindset which needs to be changed.

Its surprising that you find it funny that doctors can be bought and reports can be fabricated here in India as if you never heard of it.. Dont tell me that all these things are just exaggerated..Eve teasing and harasement of women were such high in many places that police deployed shadow police to curb it..You were showing a link which is happening in Delhi trial courts...Do you think the same happening in every part of India??

Which means 70% of the time its the men who get in trouble for no reason what so ever . And his life is also destroyed but no sympathy goes there .

Again am repeating myself again and again am not trying to downplay Rape and harassment. But the whole thing is being blown out of proportion and over generalized. Numbers are high everywhere even in the western world pointing out at one country is unproductive and simply stupid .
