May 21, 2013: SGS has certified GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHAIL) for ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems Standard, Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of airport facilities. The Japan Accreditation Board (JAB) was responsible for the accreditation.
GHIAL received the ISO 50001:2011 certification on March 6, 2013, at the GMR HIAL Project Office in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. Paul House, Managing Director of SGS India Pvt. Ltd was present to award the certificate to G.U.G. Sastry, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GHIAL. Nagaraj Ranganathan, DirectorSSC, SGS India Pvt. Ltd, was also present in addition to staff members of SGS and GHIAL.
Speaking on the occasion, Paul House, Managing Director of SGS India said, This certification makes GHIAL the worlds first airport to achieve the ISO 50001:2011 certification for energy management. It demonstrates the organisations commitment to improve energy performance through energy efficiency, use and consumption. All these aspects have been clearly demonstrated by GHIAL.
GHIAL is the worlds first international airport to receive the ISO 50001:2011 certification for energy management. This standard enables organisations to establish systems and processes necessary to increase energy intensity and efficiency along with better management of energy use and consumption.
Speaking during the event, G.U.G. Sastry, COO of GHIAL praised SGS for its professional approach, patience in understanding the business process, and providing the added value to manage and improve overall energy efficiency for GHIAL.
