Hundreds of Chinese and Bangladeshi labourers clashed at the site of a power plant being built south of Dhaka, police said on Wednesday, leaving a Chinese worker dead and more than a dozen others injured.

Police said the violence was triggered by the death of a Bangladeshi worker at the site of the China-funded 1,320-megawatt plant, prompting locals to accuse the Chinese of trying to cover up the incident.

At one point, hundreds of Bangladeshi and Chinese workers were fighting at the site – about 200km south of the capital – and more than a dozen were injured, including six Chinese who were taken to hospital.

“One of the Chinese workers later died in the hospital. He had injuries to his head,” local police chief Monirul Islam said, adding it took more than 1,000 police to restore calm.

China is a close ally of Bangladesh, and Chinese state-run and private firms have invested billions of dollars in the South Asian country’s infrastructure projects – mostly in power, energy and transport sectors.

The presence of large numbers of Chinese workers in Bangladesh, as in other countries where Beijing is investing heavily, has caused some tensions with locals, and officials said similar clashes occurred a year ago.

Police said more than 6,000 people – including some 2,000 from China – work at the power plant site.

China is the new East India Company. Their workers, officers and staff have similar attitude here in Pakistan as well.

China should educate their workers who go foreign that people have different background... they are not as workaholic... they have to take care of 4-5 children, they cannot sleep properly, have to offer prayer etc, so cannot meet strict deadline and many more things... plus they don't like 'orders'...
it is like japanese people come and say to a BD worker that you cannot complete a task in time, you should commit suicide out of shame.. ( they used to do out of shame)

When they brought their labour force in Botswana - ALL were LOW LEVEL bonded criminals.

Time for people to stand up on their two feet; in Zambia I have seen the brutal side of these chinese in the mining sector and i recall one incident where the zambian labour force was up in arms because the blxm chinese started to shoot at them with pellet guns. Yet the govt leadership was at time on the Communist party payroll; finally people voted that govt out and new president said it was time to reset the relationship.

You just have to see the criminal nature of these people when they are here; undercutting, bring in 3rd rate material, corruption, drugs etc.

Chinese project financed by chinese loan awarded to chinese company which includes chinese workers , what a brilliant strategy by the Chinese

these workers are destroying china's soft power image . people early think Chinese are good kind honest people .
Most of them are completely unaware of outised world , only thing they believe is they are never wrong and they are superior to others , communist generally think in this way

I wasn't expecting your statement to be proven right, but he did proved right in no time:enjoy:
Don't worry, those Chinese already more hardworking and intelligent than the average Zambian.

China must take proper measures when dealing with savages in the lawless Bangladesh region, therein people are as nasty as it can get.

Looks like the monkeys on the sideline including our Hindu falseflaggers already assembled for another round of jerking each other off to any small narrative of of division between Chinese and Muslims/Arabs and immediately try to blame whichever side they hate more without any clue what happend while preaching about respect and education and hiss at Chinas "explotative" creation of 4000 jobs for locals mostly on Chinas tab.

Its never a fair game for the Chinese. They tried to do the same in one of the Oppo factories in India. One manager misbehaved with the workers for a wrong reason.
Got shut up in no time by the labor unions

What do you mean lack of awareness of other race? LOL. Americans may care a bit more about races, but they don't give a **** about "third world" countries. So I think you can STFU.

Saying a lot of dumb shit doesn't make you sound smarter.

There are a lot of places in the world to go. The "Low level" people go to countries like Zambia. Don't worry, those Chinese already more hardworking and intelligent than the average Zambian.
If there was a middle finger I would give that to you.

Moderators are weak in controlling racist bigots chinese worms like you.

China needs to educate their people on the customs and traditions of their host country's. Otherwise this is going to fall faster then it went up.
No, there is no such a need. People just need to interact. Through both friendly exchange and unfriendly conflict, people will know each other better. That is the only education needed. Don't be encouraged by friendly exchanges and don't be discouraged by unfriendly ones. People just need to continue interacting. From what I can see, demagogues are the only enemy here.
