Huawei Kirin 980 Processor More Details: TSMC 7nm with Cambricon AI

With Taiwan under the crazy DPP leadership, I would not count it out just yet. President Tsai might become more paranoid over time as China gets even stronger.
It would be best if China explicitly made interfering with TSMC a "red line" like Taiwan declaring independence or pursuing nuclear weapons.

. .
First, You do know Huawei did not produce 7nm chips, right? That chip is build by TSMC...…….which Huawei is using it to build Kirin CPU as an OEM....

And no. if you are in the field, you would know no 2 bits technician will get their supposedly top secret next gen chip and bench it, let alone leak it. If Huawei actually did that, that is too dumb and stupid to operate on. As I said, let see if TSMC push forward the release date of their 7nm, if not, it's a moot point.
lol who said Huawei is going to produce by itself? Huawei Kirin is a SoC designer, TSMC is chip manufacturer. Pretty much this relationship is paramount to every CPU builders.

LOL Like I said, you know very little about how hardware/software development work as you are not in this field as I am. Every development team has either build our own benchmark and/or 3rd party benchmark to test our project in the lab. Things can easily get leak but the leak is actually not that important as the final phase of the products may be very different. Like I said, we twist a lot of the things, removing a lot of bugs, before a final design implementation. You will see and the public will have something to be excited about. Rumors from the top is that Huawei will "surprise" a lot of people with the new CPU. LO

lol...thinks get leak easy? looks like you have never under anything such as NDS. I used to work with Qualcomm and Sony Entertainment Europe and develop their corporation espionage unit and countermeasure. Protecting and safeguarding their propriety product is all I do working with them. NDS is nothing to mess with, and leak is highly non-tolerable within sensitive technology. Such a leak would most likely involve in criminal/civil action brought on by TSMC.

Even small stuff like PS4 dev kit would not be easily leak so that Microsoft would know what they are capable of. Let a lone a multi-billions dollar project like a SoC. Game developer such as EA or Rockstar would not just go bench the PS4 dev kit for fun and release it on top of this stupidity. Now you say Huawei tech would go on and bench the TSMC top secret product willy-nilly and post the score on the internet as if nothing happened? How stupid do you think TSMC are?

Also, Engineering Sample is taken out from the first batch of mass production, that to make sure it adhere to the same standard as with any production chips, so in case it messed up during the production process, you only have to trace the minimal step to change the production (because that would be the closest to the production line products.)

You keep saying I know nothing about hardware and software stuff, but you on the other hand, expressed knowledge which is incomprehensible to the people who work on the field.

LOL

If people want to leak, they can leak through various third party channel. A discontent employee can do a lot of damages. TSMC is just manufacturing a SoC. The performance of a chip is depend largely on integrating by the SoC designer. So no it doesn't hurt TSMC with this leak.

Yes, you know very little. TSMC is contract to produce the SoC design using their 7nm technology manufacturing process. Once they contract to build the SoC sample, what Huawei do with it is Huawei own business. Like I said, you are in for a ruke-awaken this year. LOL

Let’s not ruin the wet dream of this 洋奴 prematurely. He’ll have some ‘fun’ when those chips come out. :chilli:

This is what I have been waiting on you to say, which show you have no knowledge on how to handle "classified" product.

Modern day anti-espionage is done in a highly regarded circumstance. It cannot be like you said "a discontented" employee because no one (a single employee) can make a leak due to the thing we call "Data dissimilation" which mean everyone in different development team hold a tiny bit of sensitive information so that when and if they gone rouge, they can leak but they will not do anything negative to impact on the actual product.

In this case, the R&D Line of Huawei will not be running in linear, it will be run in parallel, which mean everyone knows a single bit (Screen R&D will know the screen part, data storage will know the data storage part and such) and not a single person will know the whole strength of the phone. The only one that will know that much in this stage is the top brass of Huawei.

The problem is, it is the whole "supposedly" Mate-20 that was being leaked. Which is highly impossible because of data dissimilation process. Unless the person who leak that thing is a high ranking Huawei official, he/she would not have a fully functioned Mate-20 to begin to leak to begin with.

And no. Leaking base data is not harmless as you claim. Base data is what people will know. Base line data is what we can use to estimate the impact and deviation to the production value. In effect, baseline data is more important than actual performance data, because the latter is fixed (as in final product) and the former is its potential.

In short, you know shit about this stuff and try to pretend you know something....

Let’s not ruin the wet dream of this 洋奴 prematurely. He’ll have some ‘fun’ when those chips come out. :chilli:

You are starting to become more of a joke than anything. LOL We are talking about a performance benchmark leak and now you are jumping to talking about a the whole IP core technology leak of a product. LOL

Like I said before, a development team can contract through a third party to run a test and that third party can subcontract to do the test and test could have leak. I don't know but it could have through the process or an internal employee leak which if it is the case is not unheard of and like I said, it's minor as lab sample test benchmark is very different from a final product benchmark. Yet, you will be surprised by the Kirin 980 release at the end of this year. This I can promise you, my joker friend. LOL

You do know what is the edge in advance technology? The performance, performance is everything, you don't give out your true performance in electronic case when it is the performance that is the most important parameter.

CPU is like GPU, again, would you not think if Xbox have the PS5 performance leak, they can make a better console than Sony PlayStation? Same case to the CPUs, would you think Intel would not benefit if they have the opportunities to know how the next Gen AMD perform?

Your line is stupid. Of course performance bench is something very important, when EVERYTHING in a CPU is about performance.

lol, you can promise me jack shit as you obliviously know nothing about sensitive information distribution, what you said, in the industry eyes, is laughable. If you are indeed in the field then good luck on your employer, because you have a casual relationship to the truth.

LOL It looks like you don't fully the understand what is at stake and the leak here. We are talking about a rumor performance leak which is NOT impossible in any situation and I already explained to you how it can be leak and how that leak won't contribute any meaningful info for the SoC rival as the leak is simply a non-final product.

Like I said if you are truly working with Qualcomm then you should be fully aware of how Qualcomm contracts (mostly Indian) to do field testing on their Snapdragon before it is commercially introduce to the public.

You have been proven to be a joker like just that USN navy boat collision. LOL We'll see if the Kirin 980 performance benchmark will be close as the leak now. My guess would be lower in order to keep the efficiency but it should hit the 300,000k mark. It would be faster than any current SoC currently on the market.

You have proven the square root of jack shit.

I have explain to you that every leak is important, and there are no stupid leak, a point you never even try to face.

I have explain why performance leak is important and you have no response

Then I have explained to you Engineer Sample were in the first batch of production chips, you did not answer that either.

You have no idea how company treated sensitive information and yet you claim to have "insider" information. that is a big LOL.

You are being proven stupid in the US Navy collision, you weren't even focus anything on law (which I get it, not your forte) and LOL at how you prove me a joker.

Seems like the only thing you are good at is running your mouth, because beside that, you have no actual point nor reference to support your point, and I have no time to debate with crazy people who think whatever they said is right, just because what they said are right, if you think it's because of that you have proven me a joker, then the jokes is on you.

that is the reason why you people do not have any creditability outside the Chinese forum here, everyone see you as a joke. Because you know nothing but you pretend you knows a lot to try to win an argument, and when people who come by who actually knows his shit, you then try to keep the same point over and over again.

Some time a tiny little admission to the truth Is enough, when you don't know something, just say you don't know, no one will feel less of you, but when you have to pretend you are a big shot when you weren't, that is the time you lost your creditability.

LOL I have showed that you are a joker. You are very quick to divert the topic at hand and had a tendency to go into in depth at another subject.

The sad part is I was always right, especially when it comes to make end prediction. Now it will be a couple months before I will be right again about the Kirin 980 performance benchmark leak. Watch your tail behind back once that day arrives to show I am right again. LOL

Remember you are the one of the joker who quick to blame the ACX Crystal crew for fault when the investigation showed The US Fritz negligent and fully blame for the collision.

http://www.newson6.com/story/38177470/uss-fitzgerald-officer-pleads-guilty-in-deadly-collision

Do you honestly think these yahoo knows that this is not a good news for ACX Crystal? It's especially funny these people try to pin this on the American Crew because they did not subscribe to AIS tracking.......LOL, you are close enough to see which ship you want to track, you are close enough to see it physically, why you want to track it on the website when you can see it out side your bridge??

LOL, anyway, I can see ACX Crystal crew would be charged soon.
What a clown. LOL
