How Turkey is sending Muslim Uighurs back to China without breaking its promise

Turkey repatriating Uighurs to China via third countries - Telegraph

Turkey is helping China repatriate Uighur Muslims by sending them to third countries from which they can be extradited by Beijing, the Telegraph reported on Sunday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan portrays himself as a protector of Muslims across the world, and an estimated 50,000 Uighurs have sought refuge in Turkey from repression in China.

Around 1.5 million Uighurs are thought to be held in concentration camps across China.

But an increasing number of Uighurs in Turkey are fearful of China’s reach, and some activists argue that Ankara’s growing economic dependence on Beijing is compromising its ability to withstand Chinese pressure and to protect Uighurs, The Telegraph said.

The Telegraph documented several cases in which Turkey had sent Uighurs to countries like Tajikistan, where it is easier for China to secure their extradition.

İbrahim Ergin, a lawyer who specialises in deportation cases, told the Telegraph that Turkey will not extradite Uighurs directly to China.

“So they [China] try to make their lives as miserable as they can, and get them sent to other countries where possible,” he said. “As China and Turkey’s relations have got better, it’s the Uighurs who have lost.”

The moral of the story is money speaks louder than anything else. Moreover, ever since China backed Erdogan in defeating the 2016 coup, relations between them have gotten closer.

There are roughly 50000 Uyghurs live in Turkey. How come they are here if the articles's claim is true?

Ofcourse we can't have all of the brothers and sisters since China doesn't allow them to flee easily. The ones fled the country is given Turkish passport by the Turkish conculate in China. Another thing is if they leave their mainland it means they leave it to China totally. Sometimes need to resist and wait for the right time to strike back.

Turkey is under heavy pressure from all sides right now. For long-term benefits we can't lose China at the moment. Short-term policies will harm Uyghurs. More free and stronger Turkey will help them in a stronger way in the near future when we dealt with the problems around us. Let the Us-China fight focus on Uyghur issue for us now. Our time will come...

According to Atlantic media outlets, Turkey must severed relations with China, under the pretext of Uygur Turks. This may seem strange for those who do not follow the subject closely. Let me give some detail.

In the last months, some US senators had made an open call to Turkey over some media outlets. The most striking was Lindsey Graham's talk on a webinar, last month. He said that "We want to act together with Turkey against China in the world's many regions. For both taken out China's from US supply network, as well as the limitation of China's expansion areas we think that Turkey has the unique abilities in this regard. "

Of course, these words continued with some demander imaginations describe that how Turkey should act. A Turkey that closing its doors against the Chinese, and clashing with them. Of course, at the same, a Turkey that stepping back on many areas which hurting USA interests or their 3rd party relations. If Turkey will subservient to them and join US's hegamonic interests struggle as like 1950; US senators whispering somethings about that, "US could terminate its steps which are taken for abrasion of Turkey since 2013, then hug with new some "re-welcome to house" rewards!"

A carrot was shown and "what was expected in return" was reflected to the public through the media outlets, along with to the state over diplomatic channels. However, the annoying thing is that neither state reactions nor popular reactions have met US expectations.

What's next ? Playing with the populism card.

yup, the Barclay brothers are the most honest pair of tax dodgers on the planet, can be relied upon to publish anything (where there is a chance of profit and/or immunity for them).

do you know that once they tried to fiddle Britain out of £1.25bn tax refund?
because they personally pick and choose articles, write them, edit them and publish them?

If any country in the world which needs to be ganged up on its treatment of Muslims is India. They just did a massacre of Muslims in their capital when ironically Trump was there.

Do we hear anything from western capital against India?

Sorry but whether Hindus or Muslims I don't think anyone in the west cares about India/Pakistan.

Anyway the bottom line is, the communist party can now add one more to its list of vassal state. It's a victory for communism.

So when you hear western capitals making noise about Uighurs, IGNORE.

No, I live in the west and China should be contained at any cost for our survival. Even as a smaller Asian country, big countries like China and India gaining too much is disastrous.

You live in Germany, yet your country has now got a direct rail line connection with China! Do you even know your country policies?

Fake news posted from a fake news site, by a Srilankan (?) in Germany (?) Take it with a healthy dose of salt, nonMuslims always want to break our belief in each other. I assure you nothing like this is happening.

Good on you. All I am trying to say to look around and see what is at play here.
Ok let's be serious. We all know that rights violations happens in so many different countries and China is targeted for a reason because it's seen as a threat to US dominance. I don't know the extent of the problem but it's no joke that a large number of ethnic minorities are locked up in camps. This is undeniable but what is up to debate is claims like Chinese officials sleeping with minority women, forced sterilizations etc. I also believe that China is not bound by international rule-based system and might be even more ruthless than the US once it has enough power to go into foreign adventures. They might even export their system of control to other countries to suppress local populations and I bet that this will start in Afghanistan soon and once this starts hitting home, you won't be writing stuff here on PDF.

On the other hand I also believe that there should be a balance of global powers. Large countries with more than 1 billion people gaining too much power will upset the entire system that was built in the past few decades and this will also be a threat to much smaller countries in the world because whatever big countries like India and China can do will make the US look like a primary school bully. At the same time, I believe these countries should have an appropriate power to balance the US hegemony.

Why India is not targeted with the same intensity for its own rights violations is because India hasn't reached the same power that China currently has but in the future you will see this change. Rightfully so.

It's all about interests my friend. Don't be naive into thinking one country or the other is the saint.
