How to travel in northern Pakistan for Chinese?

I am planning a backpack tour in northern Pakistan this summer. The route is from Kashgar, China via Kunjerab pass to Gilgit. What's the Pakistani policy of personal tourist visa for Chinese citizen ? Do passport needed?

It is easy to obtain visa, just contact the Pakistani consulate in China.

Last time I was in Pakistan and planned to visit China so I phoned Chinese Embassy in Islamabad and asked the procedure of it. After knowing my circumstances they said if you apply on your British passport you will have to pay 100 dollars fee but if you apply on your Pakistani passport you should be able to get your visa for free
