What's new

How to make electricity cheaper

the problem is not only generation

its current infrastructure which is showing huge potential losses during transit

its like trying to put water through a pipe which is already leaking

energy loss on our old outdated lines is not doing us any favours

we need to seriously update our transmission lines, big major inter-city ones

or by paying the bills in full and on time instead of bribing the meter readers to help steal it

some one needs to teach them the actual meaning of halal (permissible) and haram (prohibited). Until then Pakistan is lost. These people think halal/haram is only concerned with zabhiah (sacrificed) meats (even when it's bought with stolen money it's halal to them). In reality stolen electricity must be and is haraam to use.

My super religious family in Pakistan will bicker day and night about religion. Then they will hook up the wire to steal electricity and sleep like babies.

sounds pretty normal

Answer is distributed grid with roof top solar and micro turbines in agricultural canals.
In Gujarat, our govt gives 80% subsidy on rooftop solar panels....I have recently installed a 5 kva panel on subsidy which is connected to the grid...excess electricity will be sold to govt( which I doubt as my usage is huge)...In short all paisa wasool in 3 years and no bill henceforth.( Monthly savings of around 5+ thousands).

That's a great way to do things. Unfortunately, these projects are not mega projects where Nawaz and company could get mega kickbacks, so they are never tried in Pakistan.

I hope IK dioe something similar

Seriously, i feel pity for this propagandist @Indus, this sorry soul is so filled with resentment for Islam that he tries to turn a thread about renewable energy into a contest to mock Islam. May Allah cure the darkness that engulfs ur heart, i seriously pity u. Pathetic.

Canada gets freaking 100-150 days of sun in a year and they are investing like crazy in it. While some parts of Pakistan specially in south get 300+ days of sun. It's sad that our governments has given no importance to this segment. I feel we can easily produce around 50GW from solar.

One thing to note dust is a solar panels biggest enemy. I took a course on power management of PV panels during my masters and even if 25% of a panel is covered in dust it will essentially reduce the power produced by that panel by several folds. I saw a video online in which in India they have a solar plant where teams go out a few times a day and employ an automated machine to clean the panels without using any water.
