How to limit the influence of the Pakistan Army

This is the time I wish Haseeb piracha became the CAS. He would have had a heart to heart with asim munir and drilled some sense into him. Our current CAS appears to be a “dheela” and lazy guy…I don’t see him adding any opinion to the NSC meetings. This is the time where a strong CAS would have made a difference. Air Force has a lot of respect in the govt circles and the public. It needs to play a role in uniting the country. It should offer troops to monitor elections

The current CAS is made of the same cloth as the duffers, a little while back there was reports of him want a Red carpet rolled out wherever he goes…

I am surprised no one mentioned the 'K' word here: 'Kashmir'.
Pakistan has been a Security State from Day 1. Until the Kashmir issue is resolved between Pakistan and India, Pakistan will remain a Security State. Those wishing for some alternatives are living in a fool's paradise. Until then, the military will remain of paramount importance.
Do you really think Kashmir is still the reason, for Pakistan to stay the course of being a security state?

In the past you had only one front to worry, but today you have problems on both fronts. Even if Kashmir gets resolved, your Establishment cannot let go of the security state mindset with a unstable Afghanistan on the other side.

I will go a step further and say, even if both fronts get peaceful, your establishment will not want to let go of the military's importance in budgeting. Proof lies in the past few weeks of happenings, and during these past few weeks neither fronts caused any worry to your Armed forces.

Chor commanders all in with raping the citizenry. Theyre all the same.

Is there a role CAS or CJCSC can play? In 1972, Air Marshal Rahim Khan played a highly visible role in trying to gain political consensus. But then again, Rahim Khan was a strong personality. When he spoke, people listened given his commanding personality and his immaculate English. Our current cadre of Air Force leaders just don’t have that in them. Their views are not important . I don’t see them utter a single word in the NSC meetings. I bet you Haseeb Piracha would have been an amazing unifier at this stage. Army still feels inferior to PAF and the public still has a lot of respect for PaF which was further solidified on February 29, 2019

People must stop worshipping the Army.
Respect the Army and its job. But dont respect it blindly.

This...

August 14 and March 23 should be days to celebrate our country, our people, our cultures....rather than posting pictures of tanks and missiles.

This exactly is the problem...or was the problem.

Nobody can be sure but it will be a good start for a 'normal' Pakistan to have the Kashmir issue resolved. I am optimistic.
I also think Pakistan, under no less a leader than General Musharraf--a military man himself-- had decided to at least shelve, if not solve, the Kashmir issue and basically the Pakistani military establishment had even gave up on the so-called Chenab Formula to solve the Kashmir issue. So, yes, there is considerable support not only in political circles but also in the Pakistani military to bury the Kashmir issue. BUT will it be in China's interest to stop Pakistan from being a thorn in India's side?? That worries me more than the India-Pakistan rivalry. I can't blame China--it is geopolitics. But India and Pakistan's destinies are intertwined--they will HAVE to learn to live in peace with each other and other forces shouldn't have interfering powers in that regard.

Interact lots of foreign cavalry guys in life and still. They all treated like anyother govt employee. They get salary, perform their job and retire or leave. Nothing else, nothing special. No televised charisma, hard feelings etc
