How to develop Karachi? Do not vote for MQM and PPP

I don't have any grudge but Karachi has been screwed up badly, we heard often mostly related to MQM thugs every week. I am trying to understand what's real issues in Karachi in real rabbit hole with microscope.

I think if you feel understand problems in your perspective, why don't you become manager for Karachi?

Like I said you dont even know K for Karachi and your exposure of Karachi is like Visited once upon a time so dont take everything in news Literaly because media is Third Party source which provide Information after Conditional Filtering.

The real issue in Karachi is Administrative not Political as Karachi has seen huge level of development in the Past within Current Political Setup which is MQM's Majority but that time MQM and JI(MMA back then) had limited but Strong Administrative Powers over Karachi hence they were able to deliver the development that can make Naya KPK initiative taken under KPK's PTI Provincial Govt. with full Administrative Power looks like a Peanut so far. All the Administrative power for last 8 years are left with Sindh Govt. which is PPP and they are Hell bent Corrupt and not interested to develop Karachi for so many reasons.

The Solution if you Ask then Solution is provide all Administrative Power of Karachi to Karachiite whether in the form of MQM, PTI or JI and provide them with sizable Funding they will do the rest or in other words Follow the Musharraf Footstep or one step ahead of it if you really Want Karachi to Develop otherwise Excuses are being there for last 8 years so spare me from them.

For Pakistan, 90% of our export earnings are based on agricultural products.

And Karachi is not the 90% of agri producer.

So Karachi too is not producing much and consuming a lot.

You are confused between COLLECTIONS and INFLOWS here. Agricultural Exports are providing large amount of INFLOWS to the economy but it doesnt contribute much to Govt. Collections as our Exports and Agriculture are Exempted to most extent from Taxes while Industries are the ones which are providing most Collection and among them Automobile is most Heavily Taxed in Pakistan which is around 80% located in Karachi not to mention Their imported Components are Massively Taxed and all those components are most utilized in Manufacturing Facilities in Karachi.

So first understand the difference between Collections and Inflow of funds and what provides Inflow and what Provides Collections to Pakistan Economy.

If Karachi is used to collect export taxes for the rest of Pakistan, then it is not "earning",
it is collection only.

If the northern areas start charging on all things being sent to Karachi, the our city will not have any money left.

Port cities collect for inland areas.

Three or four years ago, I think. I was stupid to born there in Karachi, unfortunately bad corrupt city.

First of all your expectations were much higher about a Pakistani city ... And now Karachi is being ruled by PPP directly for 8 years ... And this party had ruined all infrastructure of city badly ... MK did first thing to get in order sewerage system but if you will visit now you will overflow main holes at every street ..........

Again what constitutes of 65% are taxes collected on imports (and to lesser extent exports).

Karachi by itself cannot produce 65% of revenues of a country of 200 million people. Karachi may produce 10 to 20 percent. at the highest level.

We just love to quote numbers without ever questioning them.

Sir Ji my 2 cents on the topic:

How to develop Karachi? (might sound radical and even impossible):
1. Put the City under Governor Rule or similar...
2. Depoliticize the Police of Karachi, and recruit the people from within Karachi (Local residents - comprising of all ethnicities)
3. Fix the Governance of the City - one of the top priority task...
4. Disarm (Illegal weapons) the populace across the board
5. Take severe action against criminal elements across the board (i.e. All political parties will be under scrutiny) and make sure the punishments are carried out quickly, in parallel deport all illegal aliens (i.e. Afghans, Burmese etc ) of the City or integrate them systematically (if there is NO choice)
6. Take severe action against NGOs and all groups alike in the City peddling foreign agenda (so called liberals)...
7. Take sever action against sectarian/religious outfits fanning the spew of hate in the City
ONLY THEN perform the following:
8. Create a working group of people representing all ethnicities of the City to prioritize the top 10 most major issues concerning the City and request proposals/projects to rectify those issues on short, medium and long term basis
9. Make sure that the budget of the City is allocated keeping in mind the historical grievances of the residents of this City
10. Until things get stable...the City should be made 1 unit (devoid of any Political activity since you will risk the same corrupt goons running the show if the process is stop in the middle without its logical conclusion)

I am sure that the short-term positive changes as a result of the steps taken above will change the hearts and mind of the people of Karachi and it will put the City back on track as far as the development is concerned.

Road Blocks I am seeing: The lack of WILL and INTEREST by the Center/Federal Govt towards the issues of this City and I don't know WHO else will come forward to initiate this endeavor...putting the onus on ARMY alone is NOT fair either as they have a lot on its plate at the moment.

Do not vote for MQM and PPP?

Realistically speaking both of these parties have a consistent vote bank which will remain intact UNTIL a suitable alternative is presented and ACCEPTED by the voters of MQM and PPP. Being said that, majority of the folks here on PDF will agree with me that the common people are SICK and TIRED and seeking a change but these people are afraid of the repercussion they have to face IF they change their affinities with these two Parties...UNTIL they see any other third alternative which will provide the same as promised by these two parties (Security is the top one among them).

Its like Gas is Extracted from Qadirpur and distributed throughout Pakistan so Sindh Govt. deserve to be Compensated for Extracting its National Resources same goes for KPK which contributes the most for Electricity in Pakistan.
