Yes. that along with insulation will cut the temperature down. But if your wondering if I would be enough to notice, that depends on a lot of factors. But you electricity bill will definitely come down.

Yes but that thread is running based on things already established and available...I didnt know this was already done and isnt something new hence kept it in a separate thread....

@forcetrip - Is your roof flat or steep slope? If it's a steep slope, have you looked into solar shingles? Dow has a line and I believe certainteed (St. Gobain) has a line of these shingles.

Never personally seen a concrete sloped roof in the country. My roof is flat. Enough space to put solar panels. The problem is that the life cycle cost recovery is not worth going into solar. In other words it is not cost effective at the moment. Batteries are chinese and last max of 3 years with extremely cautious use. Trying to find the battery specs for elon musks powerwall which seems to be sold out till 2016 even before being released in the market. Our electricity is subsidized by this broke government. Till electricity costs go up our main connections will serve us at a cheaper cost.

P.S - thermoplastic roof membrane. Something similar in form of a paint was used to cover my roof a few years back. It is some sort of rubberized white coating. Because of all the dust the maintenance is needed every 3 days to keep it clean and effective. The more you clean it the less effective it gets as it starts to peel. The white shine it had was gone within 8 months.
