I came across a very funny Article.
The options before us post 13/12 are bleak. Consider the scenarios - If India attacks Pakistan:
a) The IAF can achieve air superiority over PAF in about 3-5 days and sustain about 20-30% losses - mainly in the low flying, ground support categories.
The IN can effectively destroy PN and blockade Karachi so far so good.
b) Pakistan Army will throw every thing it has in to defending its country. Even though they lack BFRs and effective air support, the war will only end in a stalemate. The reason for this is our lack of overwhelming superiority in quality and quantity over our enemy. Its not commonly known that India is in terms of Purchasing Power Parity amongst the 10 richest nations of the world. It is time that we formulated a policy that would
I) Increase the force levels of the Indian Army so that we can effectively maintain a 3:1 superiority with Pakistan.
II) Equip the entire country with ABM network - we do have effective ABM capability with Russian 300 SAMs but its not effective all over the country.
III) Provide the IAF with night flying and attack capabilities with better precision guided munitions delivery capability.
IV) Provide the IAF with ability provide 24X7 AWACS capability at all areas.
V) Increase the number of MRCA with IAF so that we have at least 3:1 superiority over the PAF
VI) A Rapid Deployment Command with enough equipment and men to deliver at least 3 heavy re-enforced mechanised divisions anywhere in a 1000kms range.
VII) Better AAM, SAS, SAM, ASM capability
VIII) 2 Carrier Groups for the IN
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All this would double the defense budget. Many say we can't afford it. The truth is otherwise. If we spend say, Rs. 180 Billion a year (Thats under US $4 Billions) WITHIN the country two things happen:
a) The ECONOMY benefits by this and the economy will GROW by more than US $20 Billion a year.
b) We REMAIN insulated from the vagaries of the 'globalized' world market. So 'ASIAN MELTDOWN' or 'US RECESSION' will affect us.
So the key is to spend the money within the country:
a) Give Indian Industry a call to arms as it were, I am sure they will respond. (ISRO is an example).
b) Spend NO or almost NO money on military equipment abroad (from the increased spend - keep the existing spending pattern for the present budget) After increasing the strength say over 2 years
THEN we should attack Pakistan, completely strip their military capability, shut down their madrassas and mullahs. Divide that country in to as many tribal leaders want to be called Prime Ministers, Emirs, Shakes, Presidents or whatever. This way we destroy our enemy and BECOME WEALTHY in the process.
