Mate it's not rocket science.. India is a one sport crazy nation with a 1.3 billion potential fan base, Add Pakistan and Bangladesh to that with equally fanatic Cricket fan base that's like quarter of the human population following the game fanatically thats a dumbfounding number in any sense.. Sponsors will be clamoring over each other for a share of the pie of something that huge

About Cricket being one of the worlds most popular sorts is quite misleading, In numbers perhaps because of the Sub Continent but in terms of global reach ? Nah not even close.. Outside South Asia the only other country that follows cricket in numbers is Australia cos it's our Summer sport even then still Aussie Rules and Rugby league maybe the two top ranking sports, All the other nations NZ, South Africa, England even in the Caribbean these days Cricket comes far below sports like Rugby Union, Basketball and Foot ball

Rest of the world outside the British Commonwealth it's just basically Indian and Pakistani diaspora that plays the game

The speed with which it has destroyed cricketers performance and introduced corruption in cricket it is not unexpected that it generates revenue but this will be for short term and in long run it will fail as fraud cannot prevail for long.cricket was much better before ipl.Western league are much transparent and genuine than ipl so no comparison between two sports leagues
