Well I am not Balochi but I have been to Balochistan a few times and I think that they don't really dislike Pakistan but they poin to the fact that how much has the government done for Balochistan and then the fact is their that progress has been painfully slow and too small, that is why the independant ideologists win the arguement on a point that has to be taken on board.

But during Musharraf's time, Balochistan received the most funding!!!

I think Balochistan has a greater issue with their corrupt leaders... Zaid Hamid talked extensively about this, and I agree with him!

But Im curious about the people of Balochistan and their mentality towards the country!

The people of Balochistan are as patriotic as any other Pakistani. I have seen then because I lived in Quetta for 12 years.
The problem is there Sardari System. It is much similar to the fudal system in other Parts of pakistan but one thing is different. Punjab and Sindh got education early ( before partition) whereas Bolachistan didn't. So the illetracy combined with fudalism is causing problems.
The people there are wtih Pakistan but when there Sardars ask them to do any thing, they do it without thinking ( its the system there). So, when sardars decide to be in government the people follow and when the sardars decide to be in opposition( BLA sort) the people follow again.

They also recieved the most number of deaths and violence and after Musharraf the separatists gained a new voice and became louder than ever.

It is being debated in our assemblies everyday you know, PML(N) have taken it up quite strongly and government has done alot for the Balochi brothers too as well as the fact that they have increased wages too in balochistan.

@ Bane

PML(N) took it up and then left it when a new political gimmick started the IDPs issue.....PML(N) dropped the balochistan issue and joined the bandwagon to get brownie points for the complaining about IDPs and their problems!!!

you also said quiet alot has been done for our BALOCHI BROTHERS....what is that quiet alot increase in wages of who....GOVERNMENT OFFICALS???? and does increasing wages solve the problem?

they have continued to take it up infact it is mentioned on their website as well, the issue has been raised a number of times and will continue to do so unless the problem is completely solved.

I would like to point out that wage increases have helped alot of the times in the past specially for developing areas and the announcment of a new uiversity amongst several other things has happened before too.

i am from balochistan..not balochi but almost all my friends are balochis...the problem is that there is a huge amount of gap exist between the people of balochistan and the people of other provinces specially punjab. The people in other provinces think that development is happening, gwadar is building, roads are being constructed etc etc but in reality when anyone among you actually visit that place than you will know how much is been done and how much is actually been taken. in any society when there will be injustice, corruption exist than groups like BLA, taliban etc etc will emerge. I give you guys an example between the thinking of people living in balochistan and people of punjab specifically. in balochistan we all considered Nawab bugti as a politician and as a leader of his own area, and in punjab he is considered a terrorist funded by RAW, CIA etc etc. Many people in balochistan didnt like bugti as well but when he got killed everyone mourned for him because at the end of the day he was a former CM and a federal minister and a governor. So to keep things short the situation in balochistan is very bad and those who want to make it even worse can now criticise BLA BRP etc etc and ignore the injustice been done to Balochistan and if anyone thinks about how the situation will improve than the answer is bring the province at the same point where other provinces are. If the wheat is under the hands of provincial government of punjab than the gwadar port can also go under the hands of balochistan. Thanks

Great! PML-N is taking up the Balochi cause ... really inspiring ... I am sure Nawaz Sharif did a lot for Balochis in his last two regimes and I am sure he will do even more of the same a third time around and that is DO NOTHING :)

I have friends who work in Balochistan as bureaucrats and they give full marks to Musharraf for the infrastructure completed ... problem is the sardari system where OGDC and previous govts. may royalty to the sardars and unless that is change people will suffer despite all the infrastructure.

Zaradri or Nawaz Sharif are only ineterested in keeping the govts. secure in Islamabad so they will never challenge the sardars in Balochistan. These guys are not leaders.

All sardars are happy that now a political govt. is in place so a 'Political solution' will surface ... which means that GoP and common Pakistanis will be paying royalties to sardars again and we will happily watch the Baloch getting eve poorer.

May Allah bless us.

I though do agree on this point that uptill now the Sardari system has been something Musharraf was able to avoid and it was so because he didn't have a vote bank to care for and if he had taken slightly more initiative he could have reduced their powers.

He did actually incase you are wondering the only good thing that General Musharraf managed to do was promote himself and complete projects that were already planned to be developed, however I will most definately not forget what general Musharraf did to the Balochi people and the damage he caused of his rep as well as the armies.
