How Pakistanis view Islamic State? survey reveals

.
I know several Indian posters on here are trying ever so hard to paint the narrative that 62% of Pakistan supports ISIS, then the question is where the Pakistani version of ISIS? Where is their army? Where are their supporters? Where are the legions pledging bayah to Baghdadi? They are no where to be seen.

Pakistan's literacy rate is at 58% which is pitiful, hence much of the Pakistani population has no clue what ISIS is, they'll probably associate it with a soft drink. Now combine that with Pakistan's even more pitiful internet density (the gateway to knowledge) at 13.8 per cent i.e. the lowest in the region, how would you expect them to know about Daesh?

Pakistan has the lowest internet user density

The Pakistani media doesn't carry much about the group as they are insignificant to the sub-contient.

Pakistan's media should start to give airtime to warning people about the group though.

Yes look at all that ISIS support, oh Pakistan is no where to be seen!!! The suicide bombing speaks for itself.

Here os what the Pakistanis are doing: :pakistan::cheers::cheers::cheers: it's gone viral with millions of views. Keep it up boys! 3,496,260 Views and going....

'We're just as shocked' - Muslim messages going viral after the Paris attacks - BBC News
Not sure when this survey was conducted, because a lot of Pakistani media covered the Paris attacks and covered them pretty well. Right now most Pakistanis still aren't worried about ISIS, so the 62% 'don't know' is understandable.

Also, the way the question was worded could influence the results a lot. If they asked whether 'supported Islamic State', many could have understood it as an Islamic State, and not the terrorist group. Similarly, people who had no idea what ISIS was could've assumed 'Islamic' State is actually Islamic. That is probably what contributed to the 9% figure, because if 9% of Pakistanis actually supported ISIS, we'd be seeing a huge ISIS Army in Pakistan by now.

9% of 200 million = 18 million.

.
The undecided is because no one really knows about ISIS in Pakistan except maybe those with excess to the internet...

Is that why Pakistan could never have a functional democracy - paucity of information and lack of awareness? My condolences.

ONLY the Ulima Ikram can get Kashmir and Siachen back and make peace with Hindustan. Otherwise keep making empty slogans about Kashmir for another 70 years. Shukria for running the country for 70 years and making a mess of it, it's time to give the Ulima ikram the keys to the country.

There is popular support for terrorism in Pakistan. I'm not saying this is malign Pakistan, but a very large no of people have always supported terrorists as long as they do not attack Pakistanis.

There are surveys that tell us a very substantial percentage support LET or that a majority felt sad when Osama was killed or how Pakistani elite families want to marry their kids to Dawoods kids or how people take contrasting views on TTP and Af Taliban or how people celebrated return of Daniel pearls killer from indian jail etc etc...
indian have habit of verbal diarrhea lolz is it obvious to put LET and dowood Ibrahim in every topic answer me 1st then I will burst you balloon regarding your bullshit claims

See the positive side..62% are not decided means. they really do not get excited to know about ISIS..That shows that democracy and good goverance in Pakistan is slowly taking its root. We should feel happy that there are those days in Taliban times, where more number people in Pakistan was supporting all these terrorist but in due course of time, these numbers are getting quite reduced...which is a positive sign...

Now it is upto the intellectuals of Pakistan to convince these 62% voters how ISIS is a threat to humanity...Responsibility lies of the leaders or Pakistan and i am sure, Pakistan people are quite knowledgeable enough to choose right direction.

62 percent undecided? Is this for real?

62% were undecided due to the fact that they responded with a "don't know".

Most of Pakistanis have no clue about ISIS and they can't care less to know of it.

.
most of the Pakistanis have lot of sympathy for the IS.....mindset of most of the Pakistanis and IS terrorists is very similar....both believe in mass murder, violence and bloodshed.....both are a blot on humanity

I believe u are one of those who support bloodshed murder and support isis..
