Most members here wont understand whats going on. Do remember that the seniors who rag you and punish you the most become your closest friends for life and take care of you through their lives and careers.

Some cadets in video are complaining but its better to get punishment with dignity. Complaining destroys the spirit and only bring more humiliation.

In Pakistan Army, no one abuses in urdu or punjabi.

Let us take the extreme -- Special Forces and Special Operations forces.

Contrary to popular beliefs, there are philosophical and operational differences between SF and SO but that is for a different debate. So for now, this is about training a candidate on becoming an elite combatant.

Contrary to the movies, the greatest threat to an elite combatant is not another elite combatant. In wars, SF and SO soldiers rarely faced each other in actual shooting battles.

For a US Navy SEAL, his greatest threat to him accomplishing his mission is the environment, not Spetsnaz or SAS or KSK Kommando or any other scary acronym-ed forces out there. Therefore, a SEAL candidate must be conditioned to withstand water of varying temperatures and different sea states, see Douglas Sea Scale. What need is there for any physical beatings by his trainers ? His rucksack that contains his rations, ammo, and assorted gears are physical punishment enough as he trudges over rough terrain and can drown him when he is in the water. So what is the point of beating him with sticks and punches ? To survive capture and interrogation, there is the SERE program that is specifically designed to help avoid capture and for a POW to escape if possible. So why should there be a need for a SEAL trainer to beat a candidate ?

Take this down several levels, like a regular infantryman or an aircraft mechanic. The greatest threat to an infantryman is his rifle not working when he needed it the most. So train him on how to take care of his rifle. No need to whip him. Train his mind to resist when his body demands he gives up, like how marathoners do it so they can run the full race.

...Is what a soldier will face, not a beating by the enemy because most likely the enemy will do his best to kill by shooting or bombing or lobbing a grenade, not capture someone to beat to death.

Yours truly has been on the receiving end of this tradition in the Academy, but an army belt was used and the spirit was very high so there was no whimpering or begging or running away.....stayed in position till my turn was over and then joined the fall-in. Abusing was in English as always.

This makes Post 25 point-less to me..... as pointless as making fun of this video.

Woah really? damn but seriously i still thinks this tradition makes no sense at all no wonder western armies are advanced than us even in training these traditions just don't make any sense it's time we really do modernization on every level.
