The more we think about the CIA network in Pakistan, especially in the FATA region, the less we know. We really don't know what is really going on in the FATA, & the corresponding provinces in Afghanistan, in terms of intelligence gathering from the CIA, ISI & other intelligence agencies. How strong is the CIA network in Pakistan? Who is giving out the drone strike targets to the US Forces? The ISI is supposed to be a 'state within a state', yet, there seems to be an assumption that the CIA has enhanced its network inside Pakistan (in the FATA, as well as parts of Balochistan) beyond the oversight of the ISI. I was wondering how much of it is true. The ISI is regarded as a 'silent force', the 'silent assassin'. With not even a website, it prefers to remain in the shadows in Pakistan, overseeing every activity inside Pakistan. In that sense, the CIA is much more "out there" in the eyes of the world than the ISI is. Yet, there seems to be a contradiction that suggests that it is not able to oversee everything inside Pakistan: the Osama bin Laden raid suggests this, & the subsequent arrests of CIA informers after that. And with the government about to issue a few dozen visas to CIA agents, it seems as if the ISI's "authority" inside the country might be "compromised", & it might not act with the same levels of impunity as before. How much does the CIA know about the militant networks in the FATA regions, & how to establish communication with them? Very intriguing questions, & there are no clear answers for any of them.

In my opinion, ISI does know a lot about CIA and I've heard that they are quietly deporting CIA agents outside Pakistan (not sure) and others are pretty much "house-arrested". Also, the recent 67 CIA agent news was a disinformation according to my sources - this source is trustable.
And this is the reason why CIA backed media (national and international) launched a viscous media war against pak army and ISI with stupid allegations like "military may see a coup." and "Can someone control ISI spies?! lol". They must have done SOMETHING for the CIA to be this angry.
Media is the weakest front of pakistan's defence. no wonder they're taking advantage of this by using fifth columnist journalists.

If ISI was overrated and useless, the whole world wouldn't be crying after it and writing articles based on disinformation every now and then.

For those of you who don't know: ISI did warn PNS Mehran 2-3 days ago before the attack (though it was not expected to be this severe and by JSOC trained operatives).

I buy the theory that ISI must be pisssinx of america and a thorn in their side why else this agressive psyc ops and constant propaganda against ISI . I mean you see hatred from all those who I would regard as Pakistans enemies to ISI. They must be doing a good job.
The CIA is lightyears ahead of the ISI in terms of intelligence gathering but that isn't the problem for the ISI as it can develop itself. The problem lies whenever you capture a foreign operative, they happen to have an official from the ministry of interior on speed dial who gives them the green light once again.
Case in point: the four Americans in Peshawar.
Lastly, if the ISI does happen to get too close to these operatives, you end up with a RD scenario.
As mentioned previously, It's damn hard to monitor foreign operatives when Pakistan gives them "diplomatic" visas and consulates which are used as safehouses. This has to undoubtedly be a added frustration and raises the question whether the ISI should actually be monitoring potential traitors, or homegrown double agents that have been planted within government to rubber stamp these people in?

Foreign operatives are like used food boxes once you have extracted intel from them - it doesn't matter if they are released afterwards unless its a crucial case. ISI hands over these foreign agents to government after extracting and verifying intel. And the stooge government releases them. Yes, many people would like to hang these foreign agents, but they were themselves dying to see a DemonCrazy government in place. Simple.
It is the verified intel which matters and is used to protect Pakistan. ISI doesn't care what it has to do to protect Pakistan, simple.
ISI has been getting out-played, out-witted and out-foxed by the CIA though. Espionage is a crime, so why should it go unpunished?
I don't know about that though. The best intelligence agencies are those that operate in secrecy & anonymity, & even though there are Western news reports about "ISI this & ISI that", no one really knows anything about the ISI. I wouldn't be surprised about the high quality of the "ISI's performance" given how much everyone abroad seems to have contempt for it.

That's exactly how the CIA is able to brainwash people! CIA controls the media, not ISI. And as bilalhaider said, it is the secrecy for which you cannot see what ISI is doing with naked eyes.
About it being unpunished, it is due to the same pakistani people who were dying to see a DemonCrazy-based system in Mussharaf's era. Why are they complaining since now they are sitting on top of the DemonCrazy which they so wanted?
Do you know that it is ISI who held raymond davis for 1 month under immense pressure from the govt? Do you know that >300 agents were busted and deported from Raymond Davis itself? Yes, after 1 month of extracting intel (He was a top leader of CIA in pakistan), Raymond Davis was like a used food box. So, ISI handed over Raymond to the DemonCrazy-based govt. and you know what happened - he was released. But ISI went on to bust the rest of his grand-network which were worth much more than mere used food box of Raymond Davis.
Do you know that Uranium235 was seized from Raymond Davis? CIA was ready to stage a false flag nuclear attack on pakistan which would give the International Vulture Community a chance to Denuclearize Pakistan.

We already know how CIA is wrking here.....they running the terrorist training camps for the Nuclear terrorism in our and Afghanistan tribal areas....these CIA agents smuggling U235 and other nuclear materialz and supplying them to their trained terrorists for nuclear holocast anywhere around the world and especially within US enemies territories(Russia and China) and somewhat in US and Europe to blame it on Pakistan/Muslims............Alhamdolillah their plan got busted ....but still they wrking on it through back doorz.........
