How India’s stellar ISL became world football’s fourth biggest league

Even the legendary Che Guvevara was a football fan

a cultural affect, i suppose... what if football wasn't in argentina... what if tennis was...

by the way, i have the book "che guevara - a revolutionary life"... its a bloody big book, sitting mostly unread... i will read through it and will tell you more on the topic of his sporting and being a "player"... ;)

well no one invited you in this sports related thread to give lecture about socialism . best for you. now in one congressi style shooooo.

oh, i intend to disrupt this thread... :D

.
well, fighting injustice is not a software engineer's job or some mba's job, ten to six.

for some recreationary sport, there is tennis to watch or play if sania mirza is on... there is squash to watch when dipika pallikal is on... there is men's tennis... and one can always find some dogs to shoot ( action sport )... :partay:

i don't intend to be mean to anyone but i find cricket ( modern ), football and hockey quite gay... they are all about aggression and dramatics.

well, i am socialist... :D

what better sport than revolution... what better game than the game of politics...

hockey and football are real men's sport not gay :p

.
cricket and football are useless occupations... these "indian" fans of isl can better invest their efforts in removing injustice and bringing freedoms and giving some technology to the world... :coffee:
suppose If a person keeps thinking and thinking or keeps doing social job and social job, He/She will ultimately become MAD/CRACK lol
Jamahir sahab you need some fun to maintain the freshness of brain, and how can you keep travelling in a single track for life time?
And why have you added only "indian" fans and not world fans??

.
Hopefully football will become more popular in South Asia now. The only reason I watch cricket is because Pakistan play it. Otherwise I find it a very dull sport if compared to sports like hockey, football etc.

Why is the attendance being compared why not the quality of football instead ?

India has the population of the entire African Continent combined; naturally the numbers are going to favor it.

But the quality of football at the ISL was, with respect, down right atrocious.

Its a step in the right direction but it'll take a couple of decades before homegrown Indian talent flourishes 'cause right now when I watched a couple of ISL matches; the quality of 3rd tier English Football seemed better.

I found somehow first ISL is very long, it should have less matches and better grounds.

I totally agree with you and I dont think if anybody denies the fact you mentioned. Subcontinent is poor for sports other than Cricket but I am seeing change in past 10 years. Young Indian generation watching Hockey, Tennis, Badminton, Boxing, wrestling etc due to Indian involvement on world level now. We are expecting the same for Football as well. This seems initial steps to bring money and commercialization to Indian football. If it takes 3 decades but we reach even in top 20, I am okay with it.

ISL was a good show, It can only increase from here only. Cricket is losing its charm and our nation is hungry for another sport.

That's because T20 butchered other formats of cricket and IPL butchered T20.

Don't make the same mistake with football.

I smell a commie

the musky flowery natural aroma of a commie... you smelt right... :partay:

Jamahir sahab you need some fun to maintain the freshness of brain

true, true... so i occasionally try my hand at flirting locally and looking stylish... :D

and how can you keep travelling in a single track for life time?

as we spoke in your intro posts, i am also into computer design... and i have other technological fields of interest ( like agriculture ).

And why have you added only "indian" fans and not world fans??

aap bhi naa...

because this topic is about isl... but i did mention that i like sania and dipika pallikal. :)

Compared to Clubs matches in India to ISL the pace of the game was much better, India lacks grass root level infrastructure. I hope the clubs work on their game in the off season.

That's because T20 butchered other formats of cricket and IPL butchered T20.

Yup IPL killed the cricket, but football is bringing in a fresh breathe of air for sports enthusiasts in India. But I agree this fear is real, we can only wish the team owners are in for the love of the game than just mere money.
