How Goa became a part of India

I think the Chinese trolls ignore the fact that the British did not unite the princely states that existed at that time.
They let the Princes' govern their lands.
The true integration came only after the British left and the whole population was brought under democracy.

Well said.

. .
Read his post properly brother, he is (inadvertently) agreeing with what I said. :P

No.He is contradicting you.

The true integration of India was achieved not by British but by the Iron man of India - Sardar Patel.

That is not what history says.

It was the British colonialists who created "British India", and it was them who divided it into India and Pakistan. They created it out of the many independent kingdoms of the subcontinent.

indians want to feel "proud", but what exactly are they proud of? they are a country created by the british. the term 'indian' is a label given to the british subjects of the country 'india' which was the creation of the british. ancient india has as much to do with modern india as ancient egypt has as much to do with modern egypt.

Perhaps you need to learn the real history and not what Mao's little red book says.

When British left India there were about 250 small and large independent princely states. It was only the Iron Man of India - Sardar Patel who unified them all as a single political entity - modern India.

p.s.;- India as a political entity may have existed only for 64 years, but as a spiritual & cultural entity existed for the last 5 millenia.

Ignorance, ignorance & more ignorance.

I've never actually read Mao's red book. It's not commonly sold in HK.

Anyway you said it yourself, princely states of British India.

The British took the independent kingdoms of the subcontinent and created "British India", which they further split in half when the Muslims demanded their own homeland.

.
BTW can the premium trolls just leave this thread as this has nothing to do with Buddha born in Nepal or 1962 war.

This is an internal matter of India, our military history.

how can they feel proud when the very foundation of their nation stems directly from the british colonizers? the truth hurts them, it will be difficult for them to accept it.

take away their false pride and they have nothing, so they get very angry.

For some one who claims to know history, this is an epic facepalm.

Princely states = independent kingdoms ruled by kings.

Anyway let us thank the British like you should thank the Mongols for uniting you.

600 and that's a huge number of independent states.

Would you do that if I asked you to leave a thread? :azn:

Anyway... I'll leave. :P

And like you said to me... the truth of history sometimes hurts but it never changes.

The key word is the "Truth"..not what Mao's little red book teaches.

And yes, thanks for leaving this thread.

Brother I grew up in Hong Kong and I went to an international school. My history teacher was British.

This is part of the international curriculum. Everyone knows that the British created British India.

Wrong. When British left there were about 250 independent kingdoms which were unified later by Sardar Patel.

It's never late to learn something new.

Anyway I thought you were off this thread.
