Salam.

With BD and Pakistan squarely fitting in the String of Pearls project with China, which will transform their relations with the PRC and would alter the S.Asian balance of power in China's favour, how do Bangladeshi people want their future relations with Pakistan?

Its clear that a China lead block in South Asia is in the works. All Muslim states in S.Asia, namely Pakistan, Maldives and Bangladesh are on the same page to support the Chinese project and to have China as the undisputed regional power with 3 Muslim allies in the region.

Such a block would also require strategic cooperation to take place between Pakistan and Bangladesh as two major power brokers.

In the light of the above geopolitical shift, how would the BD citizenry want their relations with Pakistan to look like?

@Loki @kalu_miah @snowqueen tag others too pls.

I don't think that's possible with the amount of indian influence within Bangladesh and its gov.t including its media.

Bangladesh's cooperation with China is only between these two countries and does not involve any Pakistan oriented decisions on the part of the Bangladeshi gov.t.

@Aeronaut I think it's too early to say anything about a geopolitical shift as far as Bangladesh is concerned.

Much of China's investments here are related to business. At least, on paper.

Not as long as Madame Hasina is in charge.......

She'll try to remain in power no matter what. With, or without India.

Why does a simple sale of a few helicopters or a statement or an acknowledgement be a seismic shift away from the usual?

Why does the financing and constructing of a few sea ports in countries that are in dire need of funding and which need funding to even construct basic dams, bridges or any infra be a geo political shift or a strategic shift?

especially given, that much more of Chinese funding's happen in distance shores and quantum amounts of Chinese money and investments go to countries (like US or India) against which these supposed seismic changes or geo political alignments are supposedly targeted against.

Smaller countries generally have a host of benefactors - China is one of them and with truck loads of cash at their disposal - it's quite natural that they will look to spread their investments all around.

:D, If only major countries would take the risk of alienating other powers for the sake of their minions - there would have been multiple major wars.

more trade, more investments, more exchange of talent, easier travel (possibly visa free) etc. these are possible despite having a hateful cult sitting in power in our BD. after this cult is ousted we can go for better relations between our militaries

Getting a Chinese visa is easy.

That hateful cult has long-term plans for the military already.

BTW @kalu_miah is now anti China for this month. From next month he will again start sucking up to China.

Just this month? :cheesy:

It happened when he realized that China really is a non-interventionist country, and that we would be highly unlikely to "save" him and his fellows from Modi, Hasina, and all that related jargon.

So now instead, he wants to join with America and defeat China.

Luckily, no country in the world seems to ascribe to these rather hysterical theories. And all of them, whether Western, Islamic, BRICS or otherwise are seeking to improve relations with China.

I completely agree with you. There is no Pak-Bangladesh trade interests due to a number of reasons.

India has developed bilateral relations with Bangladesh over the years.

The China factor in South Asia mutual relations and trade relations is completely based on highest kickback given by the Chinese corporations. There is no base in these trade relations which is completely based on bribes. Pakistani politicians have glorified Pak-China relations, but that sort of glorification is not seen in China, who are paying bribes to get the projects.

In international trade, there is not such thing as brotherly Ummah. Pakistani politicians have glorified this term to fool their people.
