How different is life in the Pakistani cities from Indian cities?

It's not an Islamic country thing, it's just a Muslim thing. Our peoples just don't drink alcohol since it's banned by Islam.

Even Turkey...a much richer, developed, "European," and prosperous nation with secularism enshrined in their system...drinks far, far less alcohol on average per capita basis than India.

It's just has to do with having a superior/fitter social culture. Muslim countries generally have better social cultures in many aspects than non-Muslim one's when it comes to things like marriage rates, alcohol/drugs consumption, abortions, religious practice, divorce rates, demographics, births outside marriage, family structure, fertility, modest dressing, sexual promiscuity (especially whorish adventures of females) and so on

Agree with the first two paragraphs, The rest of it is pure cock.. The difference between a open society and a theocracy is that all the stuff you mention are done under the garb of religious dogma, Social culture is subjective, Who is one to judge which is "superior" ?

We can judge the consumption of alcohol when Muslims go abroad, From rich Arabs in Europe to lesser rich Pakistanis or Afghans in places like Thailand, As far as divorce rates are concerned it comes with personal freedoms especially womens rights which is non existent in majority of the Muslim world .. Promiscuity ??!! Thats a laugh with harems of Arabs all over to sex slavery of women to young male sex slaves in central Asian Muslim nations including parts of Pakistan.. Have you been to any Turkish baths (Hammam's) ? They're notorious in the country for old men to court young men for sex.. Whats worse are the clergy.. Pakistan has one of the highest number of Heroin addicts in the world

IT's called hypocrisy

Yeah so spare us the holier than thou sermon.. This can go on for a couple of dozens of posts.. Ktksbye

Gibbs is right. We have zero drinking culture.

People here drink to get smashed. Have zero idea of good whisky. Wouldn't know a good wine if they were immersed in it.

Ways to go before we (if ever) become people who can carry their booze well.

Yeah, but I was asking if only upper/middle class urban Indians drank frequently or if this was common amongst the rural classes and the poor as well?

Not much idea bro. I don't socialize much with the lower classes to know that well.

I have not been either to Karachi or Lahore, but since alcohol is banned in Pakistan so a person like me will observe a lack of night clubs and discos. Places we visit on weekends. Places like this

For many of the people living in Delhi, we will miss our parties and drinks.
And recently, I have started to like this beer a lot, so I personally will miss it too.

one stark difference that one may notice is that India is MUCH more Westernised than Pakistan, so while one wouldn`t find it difficult to get a little drunk and then party in India, it is only the super rich who get these "luxuries" in Pakistan, in private parties mostly in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore; and that too at a very high cost and a great social risk, since acts like these are considered social stigma and a taboo.

being drunk, getting l**d is life, than of course pakistanis neither are western nor want to................

Does this mean getting drunk is necessary for enjoying or is a symbol of luxurious life?
Well as much as I've seen in my many years of life happiness always finds a way here in Pakistan to reach every corner of life.. We are a blessed nation that's why after all the years of Terrorism and extremism we're still optimistic about our future.
By the way...
There's no scarcity of clubs/ bars or any other sort of entertainment here. People openly do whatever they want to in their respective social circles apart from the feudal/underdeveloped areas.

Not beef except in kerela , goa and NE.
Alcohol is prohibited in pakistan but charas, etc is freely available and not frowned upon. Even alcohol is available for tourists and non muslims.
But the atmosphere in their dives would be seedy and suffocating.
I ate beef last week in delhi.

You'll find bars in abundance in Istanbul and I believe in other major cities of Turkey as well but 87% (or 83% ?) Turks have never consumed alcohol. This is a staggering figure considering how efforts have been made to westernize Turkey since it became Republic.

Turkey is just an amazing country and I would like Pakistan to be like it with Sufi underpinnings than Saudi Wahhabi version of extremism and backwardness that has crept in our country. But this is another topic.

To make u hate your life even more. Eternal fight between the haves and have nots.

Don't you hate your life when you look at the mirror? Hardware is something you cannot change. :)

We are happy 'have nots' of alcohol, clubbing, kama sutra, incest, etc.

IT has done a lot of good to India but this idiotic aping of what some of these gurgaon and IT park types consider 'cultural modernity' is appalling. And the moronic 'clubbing' and artificially simulated gaiety is disgusting to say the least.

I have nothing against drinking but the premise of this thread is actually indicative of a serious new problem for India. of-course I am also probably older than these guys but of all the million things that are wrong about Pakistan, to try to tease them about drinking is silly.

The irish cat can drink most of you under the table. The german fish can dance better than most of you. Bourbon street trannies can dress better than you. Why oh why!

@OP - I know you are just trying get a spark out of the Pakistanis and probably know all of the above but this does touch on a serious problem

Dude how clueless are you? Lurk more about india before you claim nonsense, India. Nearly every guy i know in bangalore & goa dirnks , governments used to ration kalki in the 80s . States up north literally have a cannabis culture

Bro you have to see Indians abroad with goras, over fine dining and socialising, to know how little we know about fine drinking.

Sure there is a small well heeled minority who have over time picked up the finer nuances of good booze and can appreciate, identify, select and carry a conversation.

But for the most part we are ugly brainless bewdas.
