How could India and Pakistan improve their relationship?

Only possible way is in a scenario where an external force threatens the region's stability and India and Pakistan join hands to thwart it , thereby a sense of commonness emerges and prevails and things go forward on the basis of that resolving all pending issues.

And what once that external stimulant vanishes? Back to square one?

The push has to come from inside and not outside.

So just because we are afraid of a few trolls, we should stop trying.

I do not know why others come to this forum, I ,personally, do come because I want to know them. Interaction can help clear a lot of misunderstandings you see.

At least I can say "I TRIED!". I will not give up without trying.

Yes you are right. we should not give up. we have to improve our relation. without interaction we not resolve our misunderstanding.

ALSO SOME OF MEMEBERS COME WITH A TROLL. but this is not a reason we give up.

Thats upto the politicians and the media to decide.

In both countries the mindset and mind are controlled and manipulated by the media. If it can carry on the goodwill of aftermath such events, i dont see much change in it when the feelgood feeling exist.

Does anyone remember what happened to SAARC? Is it still around or gone with the wind??

It is hard to accomplish anything when there is so much mutual distrust.

I agree. We should start slowly. There's no need to hush things up.

Doesn't necessarily mean we have to love each other, Germany and Britain fought two world wars between them but they are a part of EU aren't they ?

They do not have the scar of partition to go along, and the religious differences are non existent.

And to a large extent media is influenced by the govt. So if the stimulus comes, the media might just behave. Who knows?

For example, take china, a few months back, there was such a brouhaha in our media about all kinds of speculations vis a vis china. It actually started to reflect on our relation with china. And then, when Indian govt. told the media to behave, look how quickly things changed.

Two World Wars ! They have more casualties to their heads than all Indo-Pak Skirmishes/wars, the victims of terroism(both nations), the victims of Air crashes(both countries) and the 1962 war combined !
They got over that bloodshed, in my opinion being responsible for millions of deaths of the other party creates greater feelings of hatred and mistrust than religious differences and partition.
