There have been so many threads about the disputes between India and Pakistan. Let's discuss the options we have when it comes to taking our relationship forward. Let me suggest that we all post in the following format in order to retain clarity and avoid being misunderstood.

India:<<<Point out what India should do>>>

Pakistan:<<<Point out what Pakistan should do>>>

Third Party:<<<Point out if you see any role for any third party/international community and what could they do>>>

Pros:<<<Point out the pros of your approach>>>

Cons:<<<Point out the cons of your approach>>>

Regards,

Wasn't this topic came up a hundred times before and got derailed without much healthy discussions in the past and recent past?

I dont see much of anything happening this time too.

India: Could start by taking forward the dialogue process. Include pakistani concerns such as kashmir, baluchistan (let's just hear out what Rahman Malik and co. has to say on baluchistan) and afghanistan. Water can be discussed according to IWT mechanism. Release Pakistani fishermen. and POW's (if we have them). Encourage cricket etc. Let's hear what they have to say.

Pakistan: Could start by accomodating India's concerns on terrorism, afghanistan. Could release Indian fishermen, POW's. Other options like cricket/movies etc. can be taken up. Permitting trade between India and afghanistan will be a huge boost. Of course, Pakistan will and justifiably can both charge for and scan the containers.

International community: I see no role. At least for now.

Pros: These are mostly first stage CBM's.

Cons: The road ahead will be long and tortuous.

If we sanely follow the format I suggested, I see no reason why it should go off-topic. Moreover, we can only do what is in our hands. Leave the rest to God (and mods :D)

Another one... Sigh

Lets start by being nice to each other on this forum. As the say, the journey of a thousand miles beings with a single step.

We can't be nice to each other on a virtual forum, how can we be nice to each other in reality?

On the contrary, I have met Pakistanis and got along well with them in real life.

It is hard to have an intelligent conversation over the internet forum (with people jumping in and derailing) compared to a face to face conversation, where we can refute a statement without have to google and cherry picking articles that conform to our view.

Ask an Indian, and he will say Pakistan should stop cross border terrorism.

Ask a Pakistani and he will say India should get out of J&K.

Neither is going to happen.. Case closed

We all have our own opinions. Let's just hear them out.

@Patrician

if you want to act like an old professor and want a serious honest answer, You are in a wrong place.

Limit exercising your expertise and views in matters which doesnt fall into derailment and again seriously this thread should have opened in the Kashmir session instead of Strategic & Geopolitical Issues.

Let's start with the governments. People can join in later on.

This is not limited to kashmir.

To improve our relation firstly we have to resolve the kashmir's dispute.

india should sign trading agreement with pakistan.

if some relation improves then pakistan should allowed indian compnies to do bussiness in pakistan and vice-versa.

then we should go for the defence deals. like india buying pakistan's aircraft jf 17 thunder. i know this take it long time.

And in the end we should sign on a millitry agreement(e.g.NATO treety)

It is very difficult to improve our relation, this is not a easy task. but we should try to resolve our problem with each other.

Not atleast in the first page of the thread.. You will see in due course.

Good Luck:cheers:

So just because we are afraid of a few trolls, we should stop trying.

I do not know why others come to this forum, I ,personally, do come because I want to know them. Interaction can help clear a lot of misunderstandings you see.

At least I can say "I TRIED!". I will not give up without trying.

Start by giving easier access to each other's market, if people travel across the borders often they will come to know that the other party are not as bad as they had imagined, if all goes to plan, you can expect visa less access to and from India to Pakistan by the year 2050.
